Adjust side mirror control

Default Adjust side mirror control
Hi,
My side mirror control is not working. The control button is broken I think, I just purchased the car. How can I test to make sure it is the button and not somthing else? I found the button control cost about 50 USD, should not be an issue to replace it but before I shell out he bucks it would be nice to know that is the issue.
