Simple HID Install
Okay I know there are alot of install instructions on the forum but I figured one more will not hurt. I recently bought an H.I.D. kit to install in my xfire. I have put them in many cars, so it was not a hard install. First of all DO NOT REMOVE THE HEADLIGHTS, you can do the whole install for low beams without taking the headlights out. I guess you can call this install for dummies
First things first pull the cover off the back of the light(that's the rubber part covering access to the bulb.
Step One: pull the plugs off the headlights, it's a snug fit and you may feel like you are going to brake something but u will not just pull striaight back on the connector attached to the plug.
Step two: remove the light clip, there is a little silver clip that holds the light in place, push on the bottom part of the clip down and towards the fender. The clip is not loose just pull it up, and now the bulb pulls straight out.
Step Three: install the new bulb, simply put it in the slot, and reattach the clip.
Step Four: Now it's time to wire the bulb, the plug has two sockets one side has two wires running two it, the other has one. The socket with two wires is the negative, The one with one wire is the postive, simply plug the postive wire into the postive socket, plug the negative in to the negative socket.
Step Five: Mounting the Ballast, on the driver side there is a flat spot right below the headlight, you can use 3m double sided tape and place the ballast their, this is better then grounding it to an existing screw since alot of people have had issues with feedback becuase of it. On the passenger side you have two options one being below the low beam, or just behind the headlight assembly.
Also not when doing this install on the passenger side it is alittle tight but the hose that is restricting access to the headlight can be moved out of the way, just lift up on it and unwedge it from it's location just be carefull not to disconnect it.
This install is for the pilothid.com hid kit I have had it in 3 cars now and it works well plus it comes with a warranty against bulb burnout or ballast issues.
Hope this helps all the newbies

Installed a kit I bought on e-bay tonight. Full price with shipping was $60 - 6000K was the bulb temp. Ebay member hqz4321. The link to the seller's store...

...I would say I did it in just under two hours. This is mainly due to the fact that this kit comes with the wires attached directly to the back of the bulb. (This was not mentioned in the instructions above - maybe because the bulb was not directly wired in). Because of this I was forced to remove the clips on the back of the headlight - and reattach them underneath the wire once the bulb was in place so I could close the clip.
Placing the clip back into its little slots would not be so difficult except that the space is so confined that its hard to see what you are doing . Furthermore it is difficult to fit your hands in there.
In retrospect... I wish I had installed these two years ago. I bought the Sylvania Silverstars and although they had the white effect, it wasn't what I was dreaming of. The HID 6000K give the lights the effect I am looking for.
The light is a crisp and cool blue. It illuminates everything in a whole different way. I have heard many members say they wished they had gotten the 4300K instead of the 6000K. On this I might agree. I would say my new bulbs are a bit brighter than my halogens but illuminate the road much better - if that makes sense. Plus they look great.
I took the car out tonight and I could see heads turning as I drove down the road or sat a traffic light. The crossfire stands out on the road as it is, but at night (and day) the HIDs really set the car apart.
So if you are intimidated by the install... don't be and make the purchase. That was my one mistake. And if you are looking for a brighter light get the 4300K or 5000K bulbs. Really a great mod that I am very pleased with and you can't beat the price!
PS To any members out there who have worked on changing the bulb in their high beam on the passenger side please let me know. It seems that it would be close to impossible. I am interested as I did not have the patience to work that one out.
PSS Oh and lastly this kit did not make the "Bulb Out" light on the dash came on! I was pleasantly surprised as I have read of other forum members who bought much more expensive kits and had this problem.

I found it much easier to work on the passenger side lights if you just remove/move the radiator overflow tank. 2 nuts and pull up. Don't disconnect the hose, just kind of fold it.
maxcichon - so that black tank can be simply moved over with the removal of two nuts? I wish I had taken a closer look at the tank. I have two silverstars I would like to install in my high beams but I just didn't have the space to work.
