Default Ticket for Tint

I was driving on 16th street in sacramento and a cop got me for my tint. Does anyone know how much it will cost when I get the fine in the mail? Is it true what the cop said? That is, if I go to the court date and show them I took off my tint, they would "probably" wavie fees? I'm super worried....

It is a good idea to go to court and speak to the judge. Show him that you have taken care of the problem, and more times than not he will go easy on you.

Fortunately, since it wasn't a moving violation it won't make your insurance go up...I think. Never had one.

Here it is 250 per window. Dont be stupid and bring someone else's picture. Take the car and show them it is off. If you get caught again you will be screwed. Another picture has been tried many times before.

I used to own a window tinting business in Florida. It is not that difficult to remove the tint. All you need is an old credit card, a razor scraper, black plastic hefty trash bag and a product containing Ammonia D.

Spray down the tint with the Ammonia D product and place the plastic bag on the inside of the car and let the car sit in the sun. Check the tint every few minutes to make sure it is not dry. You want to keep it moist. You can use a razor blade on the front and side windows.

Do not use a razor on the back window. Use the plastic card to scrape the back window as you will be less likely to damage the defrost and antenna lines.

Keep the razor and plastic scrapers wet at all times when in contact with the glass. That will help prevent any damage to the glass.

The Ammonia D product will help to break the adhesive that holds the tint to the window. You may even be able to peal most of the tint off without using a scraper. I have done this many many times and got tint off in one piece. It takes alittle patients but anyone can do it.

The remainder of the adhesive can be wiped off using a rag with the Ammonia D product on it. I would do one window at a time. While doing the final cleaning of the first window you could spray down the next window and cover it with the bag.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't know exactly, but I believe you don't need to go to court in california. The fine should be around $200-300 I guess, and you have 2 options. Option 1, Paid the fine and leave the tint alone, no need to remove the tint, drive until the next ticket, haha~ Option 2, you remove the tint, and take it back to a police station and have the cop to inspect it, they will sign your ticket off with a small fee, this will wavie the original fine (or maybe u only pay a small portion)

I don't think you have an option. "Fix it tickets" require you fix it and get it signed off. Had one once on my Mustang for no front license plate. Installed the plate (with Velcro) had it inspected and went on my merry way sans the front plate.

Did you get pulled over for something else becuase a cop can't pull you over for tint hence why it's a "non-moving" violation? You must have done something else unless he was waiting there by your car in a parking lot.

In most states, they can pull you over for this. I was pulled over "just to see if it was applique and not factory. Even though it was within the opacity rules, applied tints, post factory, are forbidden here in MO. there were so many people who fought this tactic that the law was more or less in limbo for about a year. Supreme court ruled and now they come at you with a vengance.
My 300 SDL came out of Texas with a baked on after market tint that looks so good, you have to scratch it with a blade to tell. Cops have done it three times to prove it's not factory. Then they cited my mechanic for passing the state inspection. He couldn't tell they were applique. Car is only 3 years from 25 year classic plates & excemption but the windows are fracked.

They pull you over for the tint or because the tint prevents them from seeing if you have your seat belt on.

I'm sorry but IT'S DUMB!

nope- i saw the cop and rolled down my windows so i wouldn't be caught but he was a clever guy....

i got the ticket in the mail finally...it says $210 WOCORR (without court?) and $10 WCORR (with court appearance?)

so i am guessing if i go to court i won't have to pay much? argh-

Wow, that sucks . I have mirror finish tint on my crossfire which I don't think is legal but have never been pulled over, except for speeding. The cop didn't care either. I'm in florida btw.

No, it means if you correct it or not, just as I said in my post earlier.

You have a choice to correct it (WCORR), you take off the tint, bring it to a police station to have it inspected, and you only pay $10 (of course they will make you pay another fee for the inspection, around $40 I believe)

OR

You also have a choice NOT to correct it (WOCORR), you keep the tint, and pay $210. Keep the fingers crossed that you won't get the ticket again.

Either way, no court appearance required I believe, unless the ticket says so.
