Default To "wing it" or Not...

I have a rare opportunity to purchase a rear filxed wing to put on my 2004 that is well witnin my budget. Actually it is the complete hatch, but I only plan to switch out the parts needed. I am NOT trying to make an SRT out of my '04, just adding the fixed wing. Cost is nothing to be concerned about here. The only additional expense I would have is to have it painted to match my Blaze red.

James I think that's great. But since you have to paint the spoiler to match your car anyway, I'd say just paint the whole hatch and simply replace your original one. That way you could always very easily change back to the original if the mood should ever strike you.
One thing for sure, you can always sell the SRT's hatch here on the forum at any time.
I'm not voting because I like both spoilers equally, but I usually travel everywhere with mine down so my opinion (either way) would be hypocritical.

Go for it! The first winged red X-fire. Just be ready for bigger blind spots.

Actually there are already two red ones with fixed wings that I've counted.

James, it'll look great either way but if you decide against it, I'll definitly pick it up and throw a few bucks your way for finding it. You have a PM.

Thanks

Rudy, nice attempted ****** and grab......

James, I would tend to agree with +fireamx. Paint the hatch to match and swap the whole thing. Then you can confuse people by switching it back and forth...

You mean the blind spots can be worse? I didn't think it was possible

Thanks for your replies.

Actually I got the idea of how the red would look from amick's photo gallery. He has also provided some valuable insight on the exhange. James

Mike, I'm not trying to ****** and grab but rather seize a great opportunity should James decide to not take advantage of it. I PM'd him in more detail and I want to make it clear I'm not trying to influence his decision either way but I would hate for him to not buy it and then it just sits in a parts yard all by it's lonesome.

If I had a SRT, one of the first thing I would do is swap the rear hatch,,,,to me the SRT spoiler looks out of place with the boatail design.....so you know how I voted I also agree with +fireamx that the car looks much better without any spoiler.....

Talking Re: To "wing it" or Not...

Just a off center thought, I dont have any others; If you do attach the wing to your existing hatch, do a test fit and see if you like the color. It looks like the donor is black and you may find that appealing, if not you can pull it an paint it after you got the fit up to your level of quality.

If you swap the hatch you have a spare for swap or one for the other [weather] season.............Woody

Hmm, black wing huh?! James, if you don't grab that puppy, it's lock stock and ready to rock on my car, no repaint required!

+fireamx, I was confusing folks at work by alternating between the SSB and the Aero. The admin finally asked me what color my car was.. I said 'Which one?'.... she thought her eyes were going..

This surprises me very little. I know I'd do the same thing if I could.

Well I finally made the hook up. It is an SSB SRT6, #050xxx. It was hit very hard in the right front. He is keeping a bunch of electrical stuff for himself. He will sell the engine, trans, seats, doors, and a set of wheels that I didn't get to see. The engine has a cracked oil pan w/ 22K on it. Here is all I wanted:

Now off the to the paint shop. This is not a permenant mod so it can be changed back in less than 30 minutes if needed.

Great pick up James it's going to look awsome I bet you wont change it back, the only thing you might miss is the suprise of the electric one going up and down. Here in Australia I called up the local dealership and got a quote for just the SRT-6 spoiler it was...... $3,800 I'm sure you got yours for alot less haha.
