Default SLK32/R170 sidemarker covers a fit for XF?

Posting this after due diligence did not find similar question on the forum.

ASK: Would anyone be able to confirm if the front sidemarker covers from the SLK32/R170 will fit the XF?

In an effort to find a lower price than autoxclusive.com ($99.95+shipping), a buddy in Munich is sourcing this for me, and seems to be headed towards the conclusion that the MB part is compatible...

This is the one autoxclusive sells:

Thanks in advance!

This has been talked about here on the forum before but if you look at them side by side, you will immediately see the differences and why they are not compatible with one another.

Rudy is correct,

However, if he can find an MB dealer, they can get the Daimler/Chrysler Crossfire Euro-only clear sidemarkers. They will be the bump-out style.

Thanks for the quick comments, rcompart!

Yes, been through all searchable threads on the topic, but must have missed that definitive observation. Having only pictures to rely on, I can see that the bulb fitment position is different, but could not tell if the dimensions were different as well. I suppose that is clarified now.

Thank YOU too, maxcichon!
Yes, those are exactly what I am hoping to get. Tried initially with the mopar part numbers, but apparently some changes in stock numbers etc have happened since the break-up of the 2 companies, so will exercise caution.

No problem at all. When ordered/purchased in Europe, they will not seel or ship for import to the US. Make sure your buddy tells them it's for a European Crossfire.

You will need a VIN to order them. And it better be for a Euro-spec Crossfire!

Don't be confused Mat. The ones sold in the states for the Crossfire work just fine. I think they are refering to the SLK markers.

FP is exactly right.

You'll find owners on this forum who installed the sidemarkers from autoxclusive with no issues (I saw some examples in the gallery too). Which is why I used their pictures (showing the mopar numbers) to ensure I am sourcing for the correct ones.

Whatever the similarities the XF shares with the SLK32/R170, the sidemarkers apparently are not the same

My fingers are crossed that my buddy will find the rights ones at a better shipped price...

now if only we could find clear rear side markers...

...i think i am just going to tint my rear corners and taillights this weekend instead

I ended up going with smoked lenses all the way around after not be able to source the original clears without the bubble out, more of a flat design. I do not care for the look of the bubble out, on the vehicle....

Does anyone know if there are any more of the flat style clears around anymore, or anyone willing to part with some???

Matt, check out the sticky on CICCI, with a small modification, the front ones can be used in the back....

Ah... you have reminded me that my English skills are indeed lacking. My apologies.

* I do have a Crossfire (and loving it)
* I am looking for the MOPAR clear sidemarkers which are being sold by autoxclusive at an exclusive price
* My buddy in Munich is sourcing for them on my behalf
* He was told by the Mercedes dealer that the SLK32/R170 sidemarkers may be compatible, but you can see from the above responses that they are NOT compatible
* If I find a good deal, I will be sure to update this thread

I will also ask about clear sidemarkers for the rear.

cheers!
