I don't dislike neon, just think it would look better if the light was spread out more.
Is there any way to diffuse the light so it doesn't look like a neon line on the ground?
Maybe turn the light to face the underside of the car so it would reflect off of the car and then onto the ground.
Nice to see folks doing different stuff with "our" cars!

I've never understood why anybody would spend money to install some crap to light up the ground underneath their car. The only reason to have them is for attention..............and if one wanted that they could just buy a $4.00 stick of shoe polish and write "I need attention" on the side of the car. It's a very cheap mod and when you get over it you just wipe it off. That's just my opinion...........take it or leave it.

It is probably an age appropriate mod. The one thing that I do not get about why these are popular is the obvious fact that there are 4 neon tubes under the car shining straight down. I think that it would be a much better look if the light was diffused to where it looked like an even glow blanketing the underside of the car. I am not trying to bash.... If anything I think that I am showing my age. Damn..... when did I turn into one of those old farts that I used to make fun of? I think life likes to play these cruel little jokes on us.

Tighed, your response was not posted when I started writing mine. Amazing how close our thoughts were. Welcome to the old farts club buddy.

LOL. Reminds me of 1976 and my "Fuel Injected" Ford Pinto.
I put an aftermarket "fuel injection" system (it was more like an electric carburetor) on my Pinto and thought that I was really "far out". So much so I bought HUGE "Fuel Injected" and "Pinto" stickers and plastered them on the side of my pony. I thought that I was the groovy-ist guy ever!
My "friends" said that it said, "Fool Injected Pinto". I figured they were just jealous.

I know what you mean. I don't feel my age either. And.... I think that I am still cool. How do you know when you are no longer cool, and just think that you are. Haha!!!

Ohhh well, I have a 26 y.o. wife... a 3 y.o. son, and a 3 month old son. Not tooo bad for an old fart that thinks he is still cool.

Lets not mke this an age thing gentleman, while you may be a little more advanced in age, it is about taste, pure and simple. I would never do anything like this to one of my cars, EVER. Although I am all for some tasteful LED bulb upgrades to keep that clean look. I am not trying to say Bravada does not have taste, just a different taste. To each his own, if you like them, rock on. I do like the fact that ow I can say I have seen them, before now I had never seen an XF with undebody lighting.

I do agree with the diffusion part though. If the car looked like it was eminating light from the underside, that would be much better looking IMHO.

You didn't buy your car for attention??? I would say that attention is a huge factor in buying a car like this. In your defense I would say that it's where we get the attention from that matters. Myself? If it attracted "the right kind" of women/attention, I would shoe polish "I need attention" on my car. I doubt that would attract much more than hookers. But if that's what your looking for, I'm sure it would work out great. It's funny, all the little fads over the years. The neon has had some staying power though, you must admit.

I don't buy cars for attention.............I buy cars for (power/performance)potential and rarity. I will admit my 6 is an attention ***** at the track though since everybody seems to flock over and see what the hell is under the hood. A lot of people HATE the look of Crossfires.............most of them are at my work. There are a lot of fads that blew up after the original Fast and the Furious movie that should've died off long ago. I guess that's why they say "to each his own"............but I will never understand or approve of worthless mods.

PS I live in Las Vegas so I know all about the staying power of neon...........but it should stay OFF cars and on buildings. lol

Instead of diffusion to make it cast light under the whole car, what if you just put LOTS of rods under the car to light it up.

I am not a big fan of neons, but one thing I do think looks cool are some lights behind the rims to cast a blue shadow of them on the ground.

I remember in the 50's these were used mounted in the fender wells and colored to meet there color to shine on the wheels. It would seem that it is not cheesy but just another way of expression.

Some times it is best just to say not my style and leave it alone. There will be a time when you wish the same people you belittled would say your idea is great.

That's the beauty of the internet and a free society when you're allowed to inform people that they do/did something stupid. If I do something like painting my mirrors and windshield wiper arm pink or putting a giant dual foil wing on top of my SRT spoiler I would appreciate people letting me know that I am crazy. But again it's his car and if he wants to mod it with whatever or however then so be it..........that doesn't mean everybody has to bite their tongue if they have a differing opinion.

PS I have a 1955 Dodge truck and it doesn't have any lights mounted in the wheel wells.

The great think about this mod is if I am not feeling it I can just not turn it on haha and to be honest most of the time I don't have them on the main reason I put them on is because I park it in front of my detail shop at night to bring in people

Silly question but I am old too. What is the difference between neon lights and LED strips? Also I wonder if these strips would look good on the inside door sill. They could be hooked into the interior or door light wire.
