Rust problems

Hi guys just had to do some major work to the front inner fenders on my 03 crossfire . I noticed rust stained water marks on both inner fenders . On closer inspection I discovered major rust holes on each front side . I spent two days fabricating and welding patches . I wondered has anyone else encountered the same problem

The UK cars are known by their year of registration.

New to the Forum so I don't know how to do all the tricks. You will notice by my age I grew up without computers. All I know is I really like my car "as is " .

Can you be a little more specific about where those holes are showing up? After all you car is now over 10 years old. If it's seen winter driving and salt on a yearly basis, some rust is bound to show up.
In 1976 I saw a 1972 Ferrarri Daytona parked on the streets of O.C. N.J. that had huge rust holes in both the drivers and passengers doors the size of my fist.

Re: Rust problems

I too just did the same repairs. Though i used fiberglass to make the repairs, don't have a welder.
the rust i found was under the seam sealer, around the shock tower housing.

Re: Rust problems

Look under the doors for rust, this area is prone to rust very early.

Click for an old thread on the subject.

We are going to see a lot of people respond to this problem.

I remember seeing that thread, but mine are really good, which I was surprised about.
