Jaguar hood vents

Hi guys, can you tell me those who have them fitted, have you had them recessed into the hood or sat on top?

Old thread I know, but those newer style vents look great Bob, nice job. Any recommendation where to get a pair of those for less than full retail?

Re: Jaguar hood vents

Hi Bob, I bought them from an E-Bay listing . . . Here's a link to a current listing . . .

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-OEM-Accessory-Hood-Finisher-Kit-Hood-Louvre-C2P20035XXX-XF-and-XKR-/152104350940?hash=item236a2034dc
I paid $220.00 but that was two years ago . . . Good luck on the project . . .

For sure; that. Thanks for the shortcut Bob. Don't know when, but I will be doing this. I'd like to have the inverted vents in the hood behind the radiator like Woody has also, but I know that I couldn't make those look good, and don't have the money to hire Chip Foose and the "A" Team, LOL.

Which design style do you suppose pulls more heated engine compartment air at speed?

:) I only have one question. Do any of these hood mods drain water away from the top of the engine (or anything else you don't want to dry and/or clean all the time)? I can't envision these 'vents' stopping water intrusion at all. :)

For me anyways; The car is not a designated driver and we never drive it in the rain. But I don't see a little rain hurting it any. At speed it would be whisked mostly over the top and would only be an issue if left parked for awhile out in the rain(who does that, lol). I forget who it was, but I saw here that they used pieces of magnetic vehicle sign or #'s cut to fit, to cover up vents for the occasional monsoon. Most of these would stay on at speed unless your breaking the speed limit.

I do. Better than no vent. They will pull a little heat at speed with the slipstream, and when I park after a run at the track, I always open the hood vertically to really "vent". Another consideration is that the vents look cool. They're nice enough to sit front and center on a Jaguar, why not an SRT6? Any heat dissipating mod, is a step in the right direction for the supercharger. Oh, I forgot, you don't have a supercharger do you?:p

No SC.. I opted for 3 crossfires and a corvette over changing pumps - leaking intercoolers - and grenading pully . I've got something else to throw money at..
Since I bought this brand new.. how long till that Bust Out Another Thousand kicks in? ;)

I didn't say the Jaguar Vents don't look good.. they do.. and not beyond adding to one of my Crossfires.. But I've never seen someone chop a couple holes in a Jag hood and say "look.. I got me some vents".. ROFL.

For the record; I was just razing you a little about the SC. And didn't mean to suggest that I had something better than you,That ain't me. Dina and I are also considering another X-fire(NA roadster/AeroBlue). You clearly are better off and with more toys than I my friend. Very nice pontoon boat, I think they're called? I had one of the best vacations ever on a similar boat on Lake Shasta, here in N.California.
