I am seeking advice from those of you who have installed aftermarket grilles. There is a large variety of them on the net and I would like to see what members have opinions on the various types. I like the appearance of the horizontal stainless steel ones but would like to hear from you, and where they might be aquired and for how much.. Thanks
+1 on this grille.
The trouble with these grilles is that you can see right through them and see all of the radiator and lines etc unless everything is painted black. For this reason I personally would not fit one to my car.
The other mesh grille has a very wide band around it and looks like crap to my taste.
The so called billet grilles tend to scratch the body work too much. The word billet is used to impress people, the material used comes from the maker in bar form. A bar is a billet.
Billet grille sounds classier than bar grille, and that probably is enough to sell a few more.
Save your money and leave the OEM grille on the car.
If you have broken tabs on the OEM grille they can be repaired. Do not just yank the grille off when the top screws are removed, release each bottom tab as you go along the bottom from one side to the other.
I tend to feel about aftermarkets grilles similarly to onehundred80. If I were going to do an upgrade, I would get the chrome overlays for the Crossfire stock grille. I've seen this on Valk's Crossfire and it is fairly sharp looking.
But if I were to purchase a billet-style grille, I would consider something like these. Comes in black version, also. Don't have any 1st-hand experience with this design, but I like the design of this grille compared to other billet grilles out there. Hopefully, someone with 1st-hand experience with this design will chime in on your thread. (Note: I recall that fitment with this billet-grille was an issue for another owner.)

Just one man's opinion, but I agree with 180. If you really want to change something up front, in my opinion, go with the chrome overlay. It looks like it belong's there, where the other's don't.
I believe somebody should cut huge portions of the panels (fenders, doors, hood, facias), and insert see-through plexi panels in the cut out places, they would have a crowd pulling car (might even cause a few accidents driving down the road)! Of course you would have to have had detailed every cutout, and have form fitting transitions from panel to plexi, BUT seeing a car drive or show that looks like that would be awesome! No, I aint not gonna eva do dat to mine!
Thanks for all the ideas. The grille and the plastic interior have always been a complaint of mine even when we bought our original new SRT
Perhaps you should have purchased a Rolls Royce, you can get wood in them.
What do you not like about the plastic, the design or the materials used on the bezels or panelling?
I bought mine on ebay $50 Great value for the money, no instructions you'll have to wing it. Be aware when you remove the original grille you will have ( 7 more or less ) v-shaped rub marks from the old grille . you can bring the grille forward to cover these but it looks better recessed to give more dimension
I've got mine off Ebay. Seller indicted it was a simple installation but the holes were a bit off so I drilled the grill so it could fit tightly. Here is a pic.
