Cleaning Headlamp Interior
One of the tips for cleaning the inside of a headlamp assembly is to use 99.9% lab grade methanol. Has anyone successfully used methanol racing fuel in place of lab grade methanol ?
I just tried using lab grade methanol to clean the inside of the headlamps. It did nothing to remove the internal film. I tried the cloth wrapped magnet technique with no improvement. This was tried without and with methanol.
It appears the only solution remaining is to disassemble the lens from the main enclosure. Does anyone have a successful method for doing this?

I have applied the 3M lens cleaning kit a couple of times to make certain the film was on the interior surface. It is definitely on the inside. When I move the cloth covered magnet across the interior surface the film seemed to be unaffected. I tried doing this dry and with the methanol. It looks like I have 2 choices, leave things the way they are or open the enclosure and clean the inside of the lens. Does anyone have experience with separating the lens?
Any help is appreciated.

Opening it up is a poor choice.
