Default Rear Window Fix (bandaid)

2005 Roadster Limited 94K. Rear window fell out. I did a quick and dirty temporary repair (4 years ago) and... well... it works so good that I've just been putting out all the other fires that happen in life. Guys notice it immediately. Women just tell me how nice my car looks!
3/16 Acrylic from Home Depot and some sheet metal screws. I used the old glass for a template. I looked into, but never pursued the rear window defroster that i could "stick-on".

I'm not good lookin, but I am handy! But god knows I'm no perfectionist. I'm sure someone could do something that might look more professional. Pics to follow.

You could have just glued the original window back.

I've heard mixed results on the glue. I haven't heard any long term fixes with glue. I am interested in gluing the window in, but a few have said that the glue was a short term bandaid. Do you know of any that lasted very long? My top's gonna be up/down on the daily for the next 7 months. Its finally topless weather in Phoenix again!

I reglued mine 10 years ago and it is still holding. The main thing is the prep and following instructions.

Did you use the 3M WINDO-WELD ?
Or something else?
I'm pretty good at prep and instructions.

Yes, but be sure you clean it good and use the primer.
