Default Silverstar headlight owners...

Do you think it is worth it to change my stock headlights to Silverstar?

Does anyone have any good pictures of the Silverstar headlights on the Crossfire?

Will changing the bulbs void my warranty?

the difference is sooo minimal...its not worth it imo. in some cases...the lighting is worse.

i would use the money you would spend on bulbs and opt for an hid set-up. the cost is in the $280 range. the difference is unbelievable.

your warranty wouldn't be voided by just changing bulbs.

Silverstars are a nice intermediate step on the way to HID. I like the color temperature better than the stock bulbs. It makes reflective things show up much better. They're not brighter, just whiter.

One of the reasons for getting the Silverstars is because I could get them for free since I won a $50 gift card to Advance Auto Parts.

i would ask if there is a return policy with aap...try them and return them if you are not satisfied with the change. some stores may not allow this with it being an electrical/lighting item.

i doubt they will be worse than factory...since they are a good name brand.

i had the piaa's and thought they were a waste of that much money. i saw no difference imo.

I have them and the piaa bulbs. I can say if I had it to do over I would not get the Piaa's the silver stars are whiter and brighter. I am using the silver stars for the high beam and the piaa's that Cyril has as the lows. I may just switch them around as I think I like the silver stars better.

Noted the comment that HID could be had for ~ $280. I've seen Xenon for over $1,500 out of some German distributors. Can you provide details on where to get the HID and is the lighting considerably brighter than stock? As good as Xenon? I've been spoiled by my A6.

For what it's worth... I just put Silverstars in my wife's Jeep Liberty. Her lights were four years old and had the yellow tinge to them. Yesterday we drove from Colorado Springs back to Dallas, and I noticed a big change in the lights. They were really "'white" and showed the lane markings and signs much better (brighter?). I found them well worth the money on the two lane, dark roads we were on. I am considering them for the XFire since I leave early for work.

Cool Re: Silverstar headlight owners...

I agree with bobs, the Silverstars are just whiter. Recently I changed all my bulbs to Silverstar bulbs. Here is a costly Bi-Xenon set up that I am looking into.

HID lights are Xenon lights.
vmaxx is just a high priced setup and only for the low beam.
There are many aftermarket universal kits available just make sure they have a H7 compatible bulb.

This is only one of 100's on ebay just search for HID conversion kit.

Look for a kit that has starters and ballasts as one unit to make installation easier.
Beware the cheaper ones which either do not have lamps or are lamps only without the ballasts.

This will be my first mod - Planning to do it early Jan.
You will need 2 kits to convert high beam and low beam.

I did this today. The look of the car is unchanged...high beams and low beams...but the light is brighter. I was hoping the blue tinge of the bulbs would impact the look...but nope.
