We were members on the forum several years ago, but forgot our original login info. We did participate in the Tail of the Dragon get together at Fontana Village in 2012? and had a great time. What a wonderful group of people! We have a 2005 red convertible with about 37,000 miles. Unfortunately, we only take it out about twice a year now for short drives.

As the final step (I hope) in reducing the slop in my '04 Coupe LTD 6 speed shifter mechanism I swapped the OEM **** with a weighted stainless steel ****. I had to shorten the shaft in order to create a thick enough diameter to adapt the shifter ****, but that actually helped create a short shifter set-up and (I think) improved ther aesthetics considerably. The result is that the remaining wobble and slop in the mechanism have been largely tamed, the weight aids in moving more easily into the proper gear position, and the feel of the whole mechanism and process of shifting is much more substantial and smooth. If anyone is interested, I can post the sources of the parts I used and describe the process a little more specifically, Pics show the look, which fits quite nicely with the OEM cockpit and console.

I desperately need interior parts in cool vanilla

Here's my story.

Hi guys, I bought a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible off of bring a trailer auction.Thought I got a good deal. The car was in Florida and I paid a transportation company to move it to Houston for me. Upon arrival I found that it had an oil leak in the engine. That was not disclosed. Fortunately the seller was cool about it and he split the cost of the repair with me.

After I took it to the repair shop we were doing some other things like working on the intermittent air conditioning problem that I have now learned how to better fix thanks to this form. Problem still not solved. I originally bought a replacement AC control thought that if I swap my old one out with this one I could get slightly better ***** with not as big of a gaping gap. And solve my irregular AC fan system.

While we're moving some of the plastic bezel the mechanic technician (I think got his formal training from a demolition company) proceeded to destroy many interior parts. It started out with somehow magically the lens on the speedometer cluster got mysteriously cracked. So I got a new used instrument cluster to swap out the plastic. While he was taken off the bezel but the instrument cluster he cracked that into several pieces. (Obviously leave this guy doesn't know how to take apart plastic parts in a crossfire.) Later I found out he cracked the lens on the dome light that I was replacing because it too had a cracked mounting clip. Somehow he cracked the lens but I had already bought a replacement. And he swapped the new cracked lens was the old good lens with the old dome light fixture and we made it work.

Somehow during the disassembly we discovered that he also broke pretty seriously the knee bolster of the driver side. Perhaps he took it off breaking some of the mounting brackets but then later on maybe he stepped on it or something but the whole thing is disfigured and otherwise ruined. At this moment I'm looking for an interior knee bolster pad and panel in cool vanilla color.

Please if anyone out there knows how/where to get this specific part I would be truly appreciative. I have pretty much scoured eBay and Facebook to the degree that I can. This is my Clarion call if anyone knows something or someone I would appreciate the help.

This forum has been phenomenal. Teaching me so much about how to take apart and repair the vehicles. The wealth of knowledge in this forum is truly remarkable. I have stayed up many nights reading your stories. Very grateful for all of you who have contributed over all these years.
Yours truly,

Hello everyone.

I’ve been researching performance upgrades and keep coming across delete kits for diesel and some performance cars. From what I understand, these kits remove or bypass emissions systems like the EGR, DPF, or SCR/AdBlue components, but I’m not fully clear on what is actually included in a typical delete kit.

I want to understand what changes are made to the engine system and whether there are real benefits in performance, fuel economy, or reliability. On the other hand, I’ve also heard there can be legal issues, warning lights, or long-term engine risks.

Can anyone explain how these kits work and share real-world experiences or advice before considering anything like this?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2015 Silverado with an LML Duramax and I want to improve towing power, throttle response, and reliability without hurting fuel economy. I mainly use the truck for hauling equipment so I am looking for balanced recommendations instead of extreme racing setups.

I have already considered a cold air intake and upgraded exhaust, but I keep reading mixed opinions online about tuning options and transmission upgrades.

For those with experience using lml duramax performance upgrades, which modifications gave you the best real world results while still keeping the truck dependable for driving and towing duties?

Hey All,

I was attempting to help replace the passenger side parking light on my husbands 2005 Crossfire when I accidently cracked the park next to it. It is now very loose and sadly we still haven't been able to remove the parking light to replace the bulb. The most urgent thing is what can I do for the piece that cracked? Its the up close photo (before the crack, I was quickly shoo'd away so no pic of the crack). My husband is worried that water will now get into the light assembly. Thoughts?

I'm trying to diagnose another one of those random no start issues.

I recently got my 2004 coupe from my parents, who were not driving it due to their age. Car has 75k miles. Brand new battery.

Driving it back from their place in OR in March of this year, there was one instance of the car not starting, but otherwise it was fine. Since then, the no start issue has become a more frequent problem, sometimes happening 2-3 times before it would start -- but sometimes it would not be a problem for days. Recently I had an instance of a 10 minute period where I could not start the engine.

So far I have:

re-soldered the suggested RCM points,

replaced the RCM (when the re-solder did not resolve the issue),

and now tried the relay in the Pulse Control Module to further diagnose, as was suggested in this thread.

At first, pressing the PCM relay would just yield a click and no other activity from the starter. Then I tried the key just for kicks, and the starter activated and the engine DID start. Tried the key again several times after that, and there was a series of the starter activating but the engine NOT starting. I let it rest for an hour, and I was able to get the car to start using the PCM relay and via the key. All of the above were tried both with and without headlights -- there was minimal dimming.

Based on what I've read on the forum, am I correct in thinking now that the issue is with the starter or starter solenoid?

Thanks in advance for your help. This forum is amazing, and I've already learned so much reading through the many threads and posts.

Andrew
