College football fans...any here??
Always been a Penn St Nittany Lions fan. Living down here in Florida the last 2 years got me hooked on the Gators. So those are my 2 favorite teams right now. Go Tebow!
And in the NFL, I'm a fan of a team that sits at the bottom right now, The Raiders followed close by the surprising Giants, which I think will stuggle since they lost some valuable players. That's ok, they pulled out the upset of the century last January.

As to what coaches are paid, and of course this is not limited to the SEC, my department (physics/COSAM) had a $1.1 million budget cut this year. Tubbbbervilllle, in contrast, got a $350K contract extension BONUS for fiscal '08/'09. On top of his re-negotiated contract, he is making $1.5M/annum for his cut of local TV rights.
OK. I am bitter. Sorry.
War Eagle!
On, Wisconsin!!
Just to get under your skin, (I excell at this!) look up the history of the term "On, Wisconsin" Arkansas fans HATE that!

The biggest rebuttle I have for this would be to look at the P/L statements for the University. While I do not agree with budget cuts in major educational departments to help fund the building of a new basketball arena (which auburn has never truly excelled at), I cannot however lay this blame on Tuberville. You have to look at how much revenue he generates for the school. The football team and Tuberville generate a large majority of the school's yearly revenue. This is how they can give him a 350k contract extension...To keep the money coming in.
don't get my wrong i do not believe the administration of the university has the rigth ideas/set of views to help truly better the world as a whole through education, but by the same token i must admit they do somethings right.

I am going to attempt to make the UGA game. A student ticket is the last of my worries, in fact I already am 99% sure I have one....but its the logistics of the whole trip that is still being ironed out.

the biggest issue with driving would be the fact i would drive down immediately after work and not get there til ohh about 6am,... then get up at 10am for football and then stay up late that night probably then go back to chicago on sunday...no fun.
i would most likely fly, i just have to figure out traveling dates. i have enough for a FF ticket, but since its closer to thanksgiving they start jacking up the number of miles it takes to get a ticket... i'm working on it right now...
oh, and no PTO days to take for work...(i'm using them all over christmas/fall TOD run...i think)

Brett & the Packers - the Green Bay area take from one guys view!
HE RETIRED!!
We still love him but HE RETIRED! He left on his own accord & then mere weeks before training camp he decides that the entire team must dump all the redone plans, redone offensive schemes, etc. because he now wants to come back.
Oh, & he wants to start so 3-years-on-the-bench Aaron Rodgers must put his career on hold......again.....so Brett can come back.
This would not have been too much of an issue but he's done this to us for the past 3 or 4 years. Will he, won't he, will he, won't he. Does the coaching staff plan without him or not.
Granted, he had a wonderful season last year but that's only because McCarthy stuck to the west coast offense: short slant passes, draws, screens, throw in a few runs, get the first down.
Everytime Brett threw downfield, at least in the past few years, Packer fans would collectively hold their breath 'cause you knew it would be outstanding or picked-off..........usually picked off.
The man IS one of the all-time greatest quarterbacks & his on-field streak MAY only be matched by Manning (if he's lucky) but after nearly a half decade of this me first syndrome it was time for Brett to either stay retired, take a back-up position or move along.
I wish him well & hope he can take the Jets to somewhere they haven't been in awhile. Just be prepared for him to not be there next year!

Last thread Jack--
I totally agree with everything you said.
Many of us season ticket holders believe one of the main reasons for the Jets doing this was there PSL(personal seat license) plan that was just released. Especially since we are sharing a stadium with the Giants and they were charging PSL's as well. The Giants obviously had more of right because of the recent success and more overall success. Being a Jet fan is damn hard. We have never had a player like this donning a Jet uniform, even if his a tad bit older. The stadium just goes nuts for him, it's crazy. Makes the fans think that Woody Johnson(owner), is willing to make some big moves. For me and my Fathers PSL's it will be 5 grand a peice, and thats just to have the right to buy the tickets every year. This move, however big or small people think it was, definitely softened the blow.
We do beleive it will be 1 and done, I think he'll want 2 just to make the most of having to learn a whole new offense. (HOPEFULLY)
Thanks for Brett the Jet
I am a University of Pittsburgh alum so that is my team. They might actually be good this year too. I am also a Penn State fan, but that was ingrained in me as a kid. If PSU and Pitt plays I have to go with Pitt though.
Go Steelers.
Go Steelers.
Hawkeyes!!! Yeah I know they are going to suck again this year but that doesn't mean that we can't still love em. They went 1-1 against the MAC last year. This might be an area of improvement this year.
