Paul Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as an activist, race car driver, popcorn impresario and the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," "Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money," has died, a spokeswoman said Saturday. He was 83.

Newman died Friday of cancer, spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic said. No other details were immediately available.
In May, Newman he had dropped plans to direct a fall production of "Of Mice and Men," citing unspecified health issues.




He was a good man who gave away over $120 million to charity. RIP Paul. You will be missed.

 

Paul Neuman was a real class act. I wish that the current crop of actors would try a bit of Paul's humbleness and giving attitude. His marriage to Joann Woodward was a model one, rare today in Hollywood. I will miss him but will always have him anytime by watching him in the movies. The last I remember was "Road to Perdition" one of my many favorites. Who can forget Paul in Cool Hand Luke announcing " I can eat 50 egg's "

Paul showed a passion for every thing he was involved in. Acting, Racing, Cooking. you name it. He will be missed in life and remembered in a great many ways.

He was one of the greats - a name which brought gravitas to whatever project he was working on. I’m saddened to learn of his passing.

one Cool Hand that is for sure, he was a grt guy...and loved cars just like us...
