And so it begins...attack of the punks
A little Wednesday afternoon tale (or how I gave my first roadster salute)My wonderful boss let me cut out early today - sweet! It's a high of 61 degrees F (according to the car) and time to drop the top for a lil shenanigans on the roads near my work (nearly no traffic) and then the not as thrilling commute (packed main thoroughfares).
Needless to say, the first bit is fun as all get out and bumps that make the PT lurch like a ship out to sea are barely a hiccup in the Crossfire. After a bit of goofing around and grinning it's time to head for home. I'm following BC in his Altima as we turn onto the main road - we manuever through traffic to get into the left lane. Nothing unusual as rush hour is starting now and it's getting packed.
Well here comes some punk kid in his Mitsubishi Eclipse - desperately trying to prove to the world he has a pair, I guess. Which thoroughly cracks me up as there is a good chance I've been driving longer than he's been alive, lol, and he chooses the stupidest time ever to start crap.
So we are in three lanes of packed cars, everyone just trying to get home and Junior decides to mess with me. Switching lanes, trying to pull alongside only to get left behind due to traffic. A light is coming up and he pulls back in behind me so close he is about 6 inches from rear-ending me. I am no longer amused.
Light is changing as I'm bracing for impact and preparing to quick exit the car for a beat down. He manages to get his car stopped without hitting me. Light changes to green and the kid kills it. Lol, give it up, Jr. Finally gets her going and pulls up behind me yet again. Now he's doing the engine revving dance - wtf?
As he changes lanes yet again I decide it's time to give him the one finger salute. Wow, people can really see you quite well when you flip the bird in a convertible.

So granted, this was pretty mild but I have a feeling I'm in for a lot more of this type behavior? Do y'all find that you are being "challenged" quite a bit in these cars? Not that I can't handle it (except I'm not quite as forgiving with people who can't even control their own vehicles and put mine and others in danger).
I wish more people would challenge me!
I don't believe most people even know what an SRT is much less what it can do but I sure have a good time showing those that do try me just what it CAN do.

I let my car do the talking at the track lately....
There was a supercharged 350Z that thought he was tough. And I thought he would have enough to outdo me. Well, he only turned a 13.1 @108! How can a 350Z with forced induction be so slow?
Well, he was quiet the rest of the night! LOL!
I think I scared a guy in a G35 over the weekend when he saw my wing. We were doing the whole jockey for position/timing the lights thing as we got out of traffic and into a wide open area. As things opened up and we cruised down the hill toward a red light (that I know to be a long light) so I figured we'd have the perfect opportunity for some fun. Well, he was just off my rear bumper as we came down the hill and we just broke 60mph. My wing came up. I downshifted as we approached the stop (Magnaflow exhaust singing its delightful song) and, as we got to the light it, the wing retracted.
We stopped at the light and he looked over but just shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. He only eased away as the light went green.
I couldn't help but wonder if the sound of the exhaust and the sight of the wing intimidated him, but I thought it was funny.

It is a blast to explain it to them, as you and Bat did, in street language.
