very interesting ... it's obvious that Hyundai has come a long ways in recent years, but I had NO idea that there was a connection to the Crossfire ...

That 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe looks pretty slick. The commercial for it during the Super Bowl was awesome.

What do you think about that drooping rear side window?

FYI, Eric sometimes shows up here on the forum and uses the name " Creator " and as a matter of fact is on while I am writing this. Here is his profile page: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/members/creator.html

Well I for one think he did a great job on this car. The concept is really close to the production model. The split window in the rear is like the 63 Vette and we all know how that ended up! The split window in the front I see how he got there but I don't think it would have been practical for production or driving, but it was interesting. I personally would have preferred the headlamps being tunneled or body flushed more in the style of the old Porsches or Z's but that's just me. I would have also liked to have had the back extended just a tad too, but that's just personal preference.

It was obvious that the headlamps were a concession to corporate Chrysler for being a part of the rest of their line, ala all the cars from Dodge have the same crosshair grille design. But I have loved the design from the first and I maintain this car will eventually become a classic. The design hits everyone of the lines that usually define cars that end up on calendars.

I was talking to a couple of Hyundai guys at the local Cars & Coffee meet a few months ago. They had brought a couple Genesis Coupe mules with them and I mentioned my awareness that Eric Stoddard had penned both that car and the Crossfire, then pointed out the half dozen of us Crossfire owners and our cars several yards away. They said they'd tell Eric about us and that they were sure he'd get great satisfaction out of knowing we owners were enjoying the Crossfire so much.

I first saw the Genesis Coupe at the 2007 LA AutoShow from a distance and it really caught my eye. As I made my way over to it I didn't realize I was walking into the Hyundai booth! I was staggered when I realized where I was. Yes, they have come a long way. Good for them.

I invited Eric to join us as our guest at this year at Carlisle, but unfortunately he lives in Korea for now. He still has his Crossfire and has it stored in Illinois. He says he should be back in 2-3 years and hopes to join CICCI.

Good plug uh?

Seems we ought to offer him an Honorary Charter membership.

Just a suggestion.
