Site Commercialization

I guess Mighty decided to put ads on the site.

Haha, I noticed that this morning...

I'm already not a fan...

However, as long as no one clicks on them he won't make any money...and that is how google ads works.

Re: Site Commercialization

I think some commercialization is good. Especially for exlusive Crossfire vendor sites. It helps with a lot of the newbies questions.

Re: Site Commercialization

Thinking about it - I beleve that if the adds are related to the Crossfire then I have no issue. I just hope that we do not have to look at adds for " Other items" ;)

Re: Site Commercialization

I'm somewhat surprised that mightyjlr finally gave in to the advertisers.....I guess it's the economy:confused:
I liked the fact that his site was clean of clutter for so long....Oh well, but I already miss the random pics on the front page........

I take that last comment back, pics are back up.......Thanks mightyjlr:)

I don't mind the ads so much, but IT HAS SLOWED PAGE ACCESS TO A CRAWL!!! OMG, this stops browsing the threads....it takes forever.

Re: Site Commercialization

Well the idea that the add's would be related to the Crossfire did not last long with me as per the info we are now getting;

Personally, I don't care one way or the other.

I'll take ads over loss of the forum any day, and honestly felt a little guilty getting all this site provided for free.

There is no free lunch, EVER!

Don't like the adds but I do like free enterprise and it is his toy.
Kind of contradictory, I like it, I don't like it, yes, no oh dang it never mind....

My name is paulw and I can't help it I didn't approve those messages!
(I know no one gives a crap but there I've said it anyway)

Re: Site Commercialization

Makes no difference to me - I'm pretty immune to ads anyway and totally ignore them on the web, in magazines, etc. I don't even watch TV shows when they're broadcast because once a commercial comes on, I'm gone. Everything I watch is digitally recorded and commercials are essentially zapped out. I know what I want to buy and when I want to buy it. Maybe I was in direct response marketing too long, but it's hard to get something to catch my eye.

Honestly, not until reading this thread did it even occur to me that this change had taken place.

Argghh thats kinda like seeing a beautiful woman then she turns and you see all these nasty tatoos on her backside.

Re: Site Commercialization

Personal prefrence I guess.
When some thing is so nice seems a shame to change it.
but I see that its all X-fire adds . . .
Like you said about Budweiser its the sign of the times......
No choice but to like it....or get used to it.....

I'm with you Stogey. Gives a man something to look at while.............well, you know!:D

As to the site ads, eh......no big deal. We deal with this every day everywhere. If he can score a few bucks to help offset the cost of running the servers then it's a non-issue. As long as I don't see Mustang ads appearing I'm fine with it.

I guess I don't see any ads. I am running Firefox with the Adblock plus add-on. Apparently it does the trick.

Re: Site Commercialization

i think it is just fine to have ads on here, all the other forums do it. it helps pay for all his time and expense on running a site.

get firefox with adblock if you do not want to see them, it is free.
