Default D-day

We need to remember and honor all the men that fought and the men who lost their lives on D-DAY.
Thank you all for your courage.

I could not imagine storming that beach - wading from an LST with only an M-1 and a bandoleer of ammo - against the strongest defenses Hitler could muster.

This was simple courage and sacrifice that America will never again see it its young people.

God bless the brave men that did this thing.

God bless each and every soldier and their families....We can type these responses because of their sacrifices. War is War. Whether it's 1609 or 2009. All soldiers should be honored period. My "grands" spoke sincerely about D-Day. I'll never forget their stories or their losses. Great tribute/find Tony.

scary thing is how little a lot of teenagers care about the 5 beaches (Juno, Gold, Omaha, Utah and Sword) and the young people who died on both sides

Waylander, thanks for the link. My family and I visited Normandy and the beaches 10 years ago this month, about the same time as the gentleman who set up the website. My wife and I had always wanted to visit, but I wanted my 18 year old son to walk those beaches and see the white crosses and stars of David. I don't think enough of us have tried to understand in some small way what these men did on those bloody beaches. If it doesn't bring a tear to your eye and make you feel pride as an American, then there is probably no hope for you.
Bless them, each and every one and the families who lost them.

no offence intended here CarolinaMtnXfire I've just "edited" your post to be a little more inclusive....

Waylander, no offense taken. In fact, my wife is British by birth and her father was career RAF starting out around 1936. So in our house, we just take it for granted that it was one brave group of men and women. Thanks for pointing that out.

I will say that my generation in general sucks, but there are many who are willing to do what needs to be done, just thank god we have not had any conflicts of the level of WW1-WW2 since and hopefully will never have one like it again.

I had the privilede of visiting Normandy. Standing in the remnants of a pill box looking down at the beach makes one wonder how anyone made it ashore and up the hill.

Got to talk to one of the old guys outside the church in St. Mare Eglise. If you have never had the oportunity to thank one of those old guys your time is running out.
