Default Got me a new job.

No, I didn't leave Meguiar's.

Many of you know that a little over a year ago I walked away from a 20 year career in commercial print/direct mail marketing and went to work for Meguiar's. And I took a fairly massive pay cut in the process. The plan was to get into the marketing department in a year or so, but then the economy took a major dump and things looked a bit bleak, but at least I still had a job. And, even with this lousy economy, Meguiar's is doing fantastically well - even posting record sales months!

So anyway....... one thing lead to another and the guy who used to run our Internet presence (Meguiar's Online) as well as teach our Detailing 101 clinics and Thursday Night Open Garage sessions has moved on. So I applied for the position several weeks ago and last Friday was told that the job was mine. The formal announcement just went out here at work and on the forum, so now I can share it with you. My primary focus will be on managing our forum but I'll also facilitate all “Meguiar’s Garage” events including conducting weeknight and weekend clinics as well as creating and delivering a forum-based monthly newsletter. Oh, and the 40% pay increase ain't too shabby either.

Yes, I said 40% pay increase. Hot damn!!!!

Congrats to a very deserving individual. Enjoy the financial breathing room! Few can empathize these days.

Well-done.

Congratulations on the new job, increased pay, and for proving that if you follow your heart you really can make everything work out.

Couldn't have happened to a better person.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! Yeah, I took a bit of a risk with my initial move here, certainly wasn't expecting the economy to take such a dive, but things have definitely worked out here.

Don't I wish!! I keep threatening to pick up a coupe to match my roadster. Not happening any time soon though!

Honestly Erzer, I think about that every time I post something about detailing products. I do my best to comment positively on competitors products, but I do worry that some here will think I'm just shilling for Meguiar's. I'm not saying that was your implication, just that I'm aware things could be taken that way.
