Restraining Orders
Has anyone ever have to get one? I believe I'm going to have to get one on my ex-girlfriend. It ended badly, and I've told her I never want to hear from her again. She then blew up my phone with call after call and text after text. No joke after 3 days I had 21 v/m, over 100 long texts, and 10 facebook messages. I waited a week and finally changed my phone number. Which is something I didn't want to do since I've had that number for a long time. I even went as far to block her on f/b, Of course now she's creating new facebook profiles so she can message me and sending me emails... This has got to end. So my question, have you ever gotten one and if so how difficult was it to get. I'm already embarrassed to have to make this step.
nah, don't be embarrassed, lots of crazies in this world, seems to be making more and more of them day by day. Call the police, file a complaint first. they will talk to her and that might help to stop it. if it doesn't then call your county prosecutor and tell them the story, then they'll file an injunction on your behalf. but you have to get the police involved first to show you made an attempt.
Clearly it was your idea to break up, LOL....
I dated a girl that was a certified paranoid-schizophrenic... true story.
She never messed with me though because
Girls like her will try to provoke you and make YOU react, so then she can sue you and ruin your life as revenge for crushing her dreams, so-to-speak. That's her only motivation in this.
Don't even reply when she contacts. Put her email addy on your block/spam list, and set your facebook settings so you cannot receive messages from anyone without being friends first.
Small things that can give you some peace for the time being...

She never messed with me though because
- I used to be a hacker
- I carry
- I know 80% of the Murfreesboro Police force
- Everyone knew she was batsh!t crazy (although no one ever warned me till it was too late
)

gentleman, gentleman...when I get these kind of calls...I always look the guy in the eye as he is describing his ex-girl friends as the latest nut case, and ask...and you were attracted to her.....why????
thinking with the wrong head can get you there.....lol
she is harassing you for sure....so, yes....call the police, but keep in mind...once you get a "protective order" as they are referred to today, you can't contact her either in anyway, for anything, even that "thing" that attracted you to her to begin with....lol....

Well I went and met with the officer (probably hates our crossfires j/k). He explained the process to me and was very helpful. In the end he called, basically told her to bug off. If she doesn't I can have her arrested for harassment. I don't want to have her arrested, I'm just hoping she'll get the message.
If she is nearly as crazy as you fear...at least enough to get a restraining order, I believe it will only be as good as the force behind it. Meaning you may need to consider having a gun and a concealed permit if your area allows it. I'm sure some are going to beat up on me for that, but how many times have you ever heard a restraining order stopping someone from being killed? In this case as in others, it could certainly be enough for her to wake up and realize how stupid she was being, but it could also push her over the edge.
