Gran Turismo 5
After years of anticipation, and one year of having the carrot dangled in front of our noses, it's finally here.
I have my copy, now I'll finally have to buck up and buy the PS3. I stopped by the 'rents house on the way home and played for several hours.

- Interface is much nicer
- Home screen, nav menu are all greatly improved
- Ferrari and Lambo are now invited to the party. FINALLY
- No Porsche?
- No Chrysler? (Which means no Crossfires, by default)
- AMAZING special effects. If you go off course, grass flies in your face. The burnout smoke is now VERY authentic, filling the screen and you leave tire tracks on the pavement.
- Sound effects are legit. Lambo sounds like a Lambo, R8 sounds like an R8.
I'd love to play gt5 but im just not going to buy a ps3 to do so
i saw a list of cars and it did have the chryslers and an '04 crossfire in the list, your saying it isnt so?

The crossfire is there you just have to buy it in the used car section as its an 04.
At first I was very unimpressed with this game, I guess I was expecting something epic due to the ridiculous lead time and missed deadlines. Slowly I'm coming around and noticing things here and there but you can definately see the shortcomings where they cut corners just to get the game out. For instance you can only use the photo option and internal cameras for premium cars. That means no special treatment for the xf... Also the load times are absurdly long for such menial tasks as accepting your car deliveries (which I still don't understand the need for this) The initial install progress bars are totally incorrect. It may list like 18 minutes and take over an hour, causing most people to cancel the install thinking that its frozen.
I would recommend buying the xf early on as it is very easily modified to be a beast and you can enter it in the hatchback, european, and front engine rear drive races. So far its held its own in the beginner and amature races (about 359hp in current form
) No love for the srt or the base models, and while they go out of the way to indicate the car is german in origin you can't compete in the german races
I would think they would have done a bit more research on some of the cars rather than just taking the now outdated models and car history from the previous gran turismo games.
All the negatives aside the more you play this game the more you unlock, the faster the pace, the bigger the prizes, the more fun you have, you just have to get through the BS of driving uninspiring vehicles like a bone stock diahatsu or a vw bus

Also, no wheel changes on standard vehicles?

How did they forget about brake upgrades? I have to be missing something in the game I don't see how that could be overlooked!
Understandably as its a japanese made game they are bias towards the jap cars but its to the point of lameness, there are a lot of other potential cars that could replace some of the more than 40 odd skyline variations. Who needs 25 versions of a lancer or 22 types of Mazda Mx-5's? Not to mention the additional "tuner" versions of these... blah I'll just buy an xf in every color
Im a little dissapointed as well theres no Porsches in the game and you cant upgrade brakes! Pretty sure thats an essential mod for a tuning racing car game! Im really dissapointed theres only an xfire and no srt6 on a racing game.. makes no sense they should have both. Ive been waiting around to buy a xfire in used car dealer and it still hasnt came up! Any tips how to make it available? Im now on level 10.
I think Forza 3 is a better game overal, not by much imo its a better overal package. It has better presentation, tuning, music and car list.

So...it took six years for them to make this game that was supposed to be the best racing simulator ever. Forza 3 (by all of the reviews I've read) is STILL superior to GT5. And Forza 4 is slated for release this time next year. 360 FTW!

I LOVE the ability to change paint color. When you buy any car, premium or standard, you get the paint chip to use at a later time. I had purchased a SL55 AMG brand new in Alabasterweiß, and promptly painted my X-fire with that color. You can only use the paint code for one repaint, so I was saving it.
My X-fire is a beast, I love it.
So far my favorite cars that I own are the Gallardo (Mine is lime-green, carbon accents and 670hp/1200kg), my Lexus LF-A, Maserati GranTurisimo-S and the Ferrari F430 Scud.
I'm at level 22, and climbing. I've already cleared all rally stages (FML those were horrible) and I simply QUIT doing the Nascar challenges, all because I literally can't stand Jeff Gordon's voice.
Currently saving for a ALMS-type racer so I can battle it out in the big leagues, level 23 race.
The price of the historic cars is absurd... $20,000,000 is a lot of money to have to save. Anyone know any cheats for quick cash? hahaha
Can't you just download some cheats or hacks and get any car you want?
One thing I like to do in Grand Theft Auto is hack a car or bike to make it so it accelerates wicked fast up to a top speed of like 300 mph, then hit a jump and clear the entire city!

Typically I frown on cheats, as they defeat the purpose of the puzzle the game is supposed to represent.
I like challenges, but when the prizes for winning races are all <$100K, and one of the required purchases to complete the game is a $20,000,000 car... that's at least 200 races you'd have to win JUST to buy that one car. Each of the higher payout races takes ~10 minutes to complete... so that's almost 34 hours of total race time before you would have saved up enough credits.
No wonder kids are flunking school so much...

Kids shouldn't be playing addictive racing simulators, and wasting their life on them.
Leave that to us adults. Gives us more seat time.
I love playing GT5, even though none of my cars are in the game.
Both of Bat's cars are in the game, if you allow for the Crossfire Coupe to stand in for the Crossfire Roadster.
Loads of fun.
I've actually been having more fun playing B-Spec.
Fun creating my own team of Tame Racing Drivers, and letting them loose on tracks to win me money and prizes. I then reward them with better and better vehicles to drive.
I'm up to 3 drivers, but I'm only Level 11 in B-Spec.
BC.

I haven't been playing GT5 as much as I thought I would but I'm up to level 15 A-spec and just delving into the B-spec mode. I am having a terrible time saving up credits though I've been spending like mad to get my cars competitive and noticed late in the game that you can't clear challenges and race again for more credits?
Still loads of fun and I don't even have a decent premium car yet.
Came upon this video via another car forum thought it was a hoot:

Overall a pretty good game .... I'm going to try the GT World Championship tonight to claim my Veyron. I think the almost 900hp GT-R will be able to take the race cars.

I was hoping for a genuine Porsche, like Carrerra GT or 911 GT3RS.
Veyron is a nice car but as useless as t!ts on a catfish. Handles horribly, but GOSH... in a straight line, it's a missile.

LOL, I bought a PS2 just to play GT3 and I did not regret it, but this time around I said too much for 1 game. I won a sales contest at work and got a PS3 for free
I only have GT5 and the new 'Move' system, which is very cool.
Is there nothing like in the teaser where you can do a ~50 second lap and get lots of cash repeatedly? I used to do one of the races in my Ford GT, I won every time and I think it was a sub 1 minute lap time.
