Default Evo (owners/dealers)

I am sorry but i just have to rant a little..I have my 05 Limited Roadster for sell to acquire a 4 door car, I have a bloodline to the Evo as I dragged race the 4g63 engines for YEARS before getting out of DSM's on 2001..My car is mint, garage kept roadster with 70k miles..I have the prie right now lowered to $11,750 on this board.

Well I have came accross 2 different EVO's both black on black (which what i want) one an 03 with 118k miles..the other an 04 with 68k miles and SALVAGE title (but the car is CLEAN) anyways...so i got into a DEEP conversation today trying to ink a deal on the 04, they had price at 18k BEFORE one of the DUMB sales guys wrecked it and they fixed with ALL new mitsu parts and it looks well...BUT is has a SALVAGE title. So they lowered the price to 12k on cars.com.

Anyways..I proceeded to tell the sales guy to have the GM CALL me ( i am a finance guy at a mitsubishi dealership) so i could discuss the details of the trade.. He proceeds to tell me that his car new was 31k and my crossfire is a 20k car..I said "how long have you been in the car business?" he said "19 years"..i said "WELL if you knew anything you would know that aCrossfire Limited Roadter NEW was 38-40k based on options".. He told me i was crazy is just a Chrysler...I was multi tasking and copied and pasted an MSRP from 2005 and emailed it to him

I said CHECK your email and call me back..

1 hour later he said "mr akers I apologize I had no idea those cars were basically a Mercedes Benz and I would be happy to trade with just $1000 "

I stuck to my guns and said NO..i will trade even as my car worth more than your with a salvage title, you CANT finance your car and will havr to be a cash buyer.

I swear these guys that have evo's are NOTHING like former DSM guys like myself...they think thsoe cars are GOLD.

Sorry just irritated today..

Stick to your guns pal. The Mitsubishi EVO is a great machine.

As to the Salvage title, if the car is great and you plan to drive it for a long while, you can't beat the deal. Insurance can be tricky but generaly one can do better financially overall while keeping to yourself the dings that are only visible on the title.

I drive a '96 Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles for which I paid $3K over a year ago. The car is straight and clean and everything works except the rear wiper. Great on the highway and it came with the High lift kit. So I drive it all over my rugged Ozark property, right thru the trees.

Just like one with a real title.

With that title, the '04 is a "Buy Here Pay Here" car. That dealer will be lucky to get $12K for the EVO and even luckier to get a cash buyer willing to fork it over.
Hope you get it.

Believe me I let him know that VERY well, he had no idea what I did for a living as I usually play stupid when dealing with car dealers and never use technical talk that would lead them to figure out I am in the car business. I proceeded to tell him that he could not sell his car to ANYONE but a cash buyer and most Evo owners are kids that dont have 12k bux lying around

I know the 4g63 cars VERY well and the Evo's are just like the old cars, VERY easy and reliable cars at 400 wheel HP as long as you keep maintenance up and run good gas. I owned an 11 sec GSX in 1998 that i drove nearly EVERYDAY at 30mpg and then drove it to the track put 116 octane in it and ran 11.70s with AC, power sterring, and Dunlops. Those motors are VERY fun to work on and drive and take to mods better than anything but a 2jz from Toyota.
