Default Crossfire Development

The crossfire is an awesome car, it went through a lot of testing to get where it is today. Chryslers top Executives made an agreement with the UAW two years ago to provide extra workers for testing the soon to be released products including the Crossfire, 300M, Pt Cruiser convertible. Soon there were over 30 Temporary workers testing theses cars. These workers were paying full union dues, and were going to work the Uawfs 119 day contract then be released, for a new batch. At the end of the 119 days the Uaw and Chrysler kept the temps working, and working, for two years. The Workers tested the new cars for ten hours a day Seven days a week for two years straight. They did not receive benefits or vacation, Just the privilege of testing the cars. In September of 2003, Chrysler and the Uaw told the workers there hard work had paid off that the new Uaw contract would include a clause for the Temporary workers to be hired as permanent staff. Time went by and the Temporary Workers voted to ratify the Uaw contract and expected to hear the good news. The Union officials then told The Workers that they would not be eligible for the Uaw contract bonus, and that they were to be laid off in December. The temp workers were shocked and tried to file grievances with The Uaw and Chrysler but were told not to talk about it and the Uaw would not support them. The Temporary workers were officially laid off on December 24th 2003.

Feel Free to let Chryslers Don Goodween know how you feel, DEG@dcx.com

Here's hoping Mighty will either close this thread, kill it, or at least move it to the Off-Topic section.

 Oh Krusty, play nice. I'm sure these guys weren't your typical Union workers. It does kind of suck to loose a business opportunity, but I don't personally think this is the place to discuss it.

Giving out the e-mail address to an internal DCX employee is done in bad taste I think.

Well..... I started it by saying how much I hate union "Us vs. Them" BS. Then it quickly moved to satire to poke fun at the union rabble rouser. The satire in no way was meant to suggest that I or anyone else have never screwed up.

But in the final analysis, I will comply with his request. I will email the person at DCX and thank him for canning the guy. Because that's how I feel, the last thing DCX needs is more hacks living in the 60s poking around the place.

James:

You may understand more of how we feel, once you graduate, start your own business, and have to worry about having enough money to pay all the bills and be able to make payroll every week.

There is nothing certain in life, except death....

And the Constitution only guarantees

Life,
Liberty,
and the "pursuit" of happiness...

Nowhere does it say you will be happy, and nowhere does it say that anything has to be "fair".

If this person is so unhappy with D/C, he should go and start his own car company, and make sure every worker is employed for life and is happy....

No smileys on this one - too serious a topic.

Man, you nailed it. Are you a libertarian by any chance?

krusty:

To vote, I am a republican.

In my mind, I am an anarchist, because to be truly free, there should be no laws......

In my opinion, the worst six words put together in the English language are:

"There ought to be a law"

I've made it pretty clear around here that I tend to be pretty liberal, and from that perspective I gotta say the stuff you guys are throwing at this guy is pretty harsh. He (or someone he knows) lost a job, and he's pretty upset about it. You may not like unions, but it's a *person* who posted that, not some faceless union, and there's no need to start calling him things like "*******."

That said... I have no argument with anything else said here. These guys were hired as temps, and their contract expired. That's the danger of being a temp. Nobody should expect to get handed anything for free, and these guys obviously must have known they were expendable. It sucks to lose a job, but you've got to make the best of it and move on.

I love the quality of my Crossfire. Thanks for the testing, and good luck on the next gig.
