¥ Who is to say what I eat??? Someone could say, "let's over tax potato chips, they are not good for you"....

¥ Who is to say what music I listen to??? Someone could say, "let's over tax CD's. they don't need to listen to all the foul mouth music coming out today"...

¥ Who is to say what kind of house I live in??? Someone could say, "let's over tax 3,000 sq ft homes and larger, they use too much natural resourses to build, heat and cool"....

¥ Who is to say how much money I can make??? Someone could say, let's over tax whoever makes over $100,000 $500,000 or 1,000,000 (you pick the number) a year, they don't need all that money they worked for, give it to the poor, they need it more"...

Oh yeah...

¥ Who is to say when I can drive my Crossfire??? Someone could say, 'let's over tax those folks in Arizona that are going to be out all day driving on a beautifull, cloudless, blue winter sky with temps in the high 60's, they can't do that while my Crossfire is stuck in the garage all winter because of the crappy weather"...

See what I mean??? The list can go on and on. Tax because you don't like something... get real.

Seriously, I hope I am just taking your statement the wrong way...

Too many folks today have the mind set... let's just tax it if we don't like something. Wrong.......................

Well...taxing those XFire owners that have the luxury of driving all year long doesn't seem all that unfair to this Norteasterner, lol.

jk, enjoy all you lucky folks.

Default An abuse of Capitalism

The tax loophole for farm vehicles allows the Hummer to get a free ride @ our expense.
CEO salaries are 500 times the average worker.

And yes I am serious about a social awareness that seems to be lacking.

And would support leadership that would bring about a better balance in our society.

Fine.... Fix the Tax loophole, but don't restrict our choices of what to drive. Personally I think the Hummer is Butt ugly... I'll keep my Explorer...

But sounds like a bunch of liberal jibberish to want to eliminate a choice for the American consumer.

Fix the problem!!! (that doesn't mean remove the product and the jobs that product supports) Sounds more and more liberal by the second. Raising Taxes will fix everything.... .... NOT... :P

sealevel,

This topic doesn't belong in a forum such as this and I'm sorry I responded to your stupid
"Tax It" response to Hummers. However, with that said... here goes:

"YOUR" solutions of "TAX IT TO FIX IT" way of thinking have got to go!!!

wMichaels hit the nail square on the head!!! You're solution is tax, tax and more tax... fine. I'll rephrase my questions from my previous post and ask
"YOU" straight out and I'd like "YOUR" response to each question:

¥ Do
"YOU" walk, ride a bike or use an electric car to get around??? If you don't ... "YOU'RE" damaging the air I breath!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

¥ Do
"YOU" eat potato chips??? If you do... they are not healthy and you'll end up being a burden on my health care system!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

¥ Do
"YOU" listen to Hip-Hop or Classical music??? If you do... I find one offensive, the other boring and I don't like it!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

¥ Do
"YOU" and your family live in a one room, earth friendly, mud hut that's no larger than 400 sq ft??? If you don't you're raping Mother Earth's resources in order to be more comfortable than you really need to be!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

¥ Do
"YOU" make over $75,000 a year??? If you do, it's more than you need and the poor need more money!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

Oh,

¥ Did
"YOU" drive around all weekend in your Crossfire just for the joy of it??? If you did, you shouldn't have because everyone else doesn't have a SSB 6-Speed Crossfire and beautiful Arizona winter weather!!! Let's tax "YOU"!!!

Bottom line... what part of "tax it to fix the problem doesn't work" don't you understand??? Wake up and get real!!!

Case closed and it's time to delete this thread or lock it out...............

Default Capitalism run amok

A lot of our political problems can be traced to our forign oil dependency. So far over 500 Americans have died because if it.

A Trillion dollar surplus is now a deficit. Corporations escape taxes with off shore incorporation. it goes on,,,,, and

I know this thread should stop, but I really had to say something after the last post by sealevel:

I have a problem with you calling AZ an idiot for having an opinion that is different from yours.

The only real idiot is the person with NO opinion.

You both raise valid points on some issues, but I happen to disagree with some of both of your opinions.

Does that make me right and both of you wrong? No. It just means that we are human and have minds or our own.

But we all have Crossfires, so we have to have one thing in common!!!!

Now I am done.

Sealevel...... When did you leave that village in Texas? Was it in time to go down to Florida and teach them how to punch chads in 2000 election???

When you live in an area that's known World wide for having more than it's fair share of morons, I wouldn't be throwing stones.

I wonder if he's going to vote for Ralph Nader? And why did you out of the blue pick Texas? At least people in our state know how to vote. I couldn't say the same for Florida. Instead of going after the Hummer, why not go after the Ford Excursion, or any Ferrari or Lambo? The Hummer isn't as bad as those I just mentioned. And some of those do have a tax. Gas Guzzler Tax?!?!?! Ever hear of it? So the people you are attacking in this post are trying to regulate crappy emissions on cars. Attacking Texas. We have Rice, Baylor, University of Texas. All three outstanding academic Universities. What's in Florida?

Been Crossed..... He will more than likely do a Florida voter trick and vote for Kerry and Nader. Then he will ***** because his vote(s) didn't count...... That's the way it's done down there.

I was reading one of the major car magazines a few months ago and saw an article that pertained to this exact subject. The editors took their H2 out on the coutnry road and went to some of places where that Environmentalist Group was torching Hummer/Gm/Ford lots b/c of their SUV's and Trucks. Sealevel, you should read it. Unfortunately I forgot which magazine it was . Maybe someone in the forum knows.

I hope I was not mistaken in my read of sealevel's post. I thought he was calling AZ an idiot, which is bad enough. If he was referring to our President, then I am truly angry.

No matter what you think of the man, the title demands respect. I did not think much of President Clinton's policies or him personally, but I will give him the respect of the office he held. He is entitled to that.

An idiot does not become President of this country.

It is one of my pet peeves when someone calls President Bush, "Mr. Bush", as is done nightly on the news broadcasts. It is an insult and shows a very high lack of respect.

OK, I promise to come down off my soapbox now...

Default ok, let's take it to a low level...

Let's keep the number of deaths in Iraq in perpsective please. Each is tragic, no doubt. My nephew, a career Marine, shipped out last week for a 10 month hitch in Iraq.

That said, 30 million people were liberated. You are myopic, focusing on oil. You act like the rape rooms, torture houses, mass graves don't exist. Of course there is SOME truth re the oil motive, but you've stretched it to being THE truth, and frankly are quite misguided in your thinking. The terrorism since the main war, unfortunately is to be expected. Similar types of attacks occurred throughout Europe in the months and year after Germany's surrender after WWII. The killing of US soldiers did not end on VE day. Believe me, more than 500 were killed in various ways post WWII during the occupation of Germany.

Sense of perspective, for what it's worth...7000 American soldiers died in 20 MINTUES at Cold Harbor during the Civil War. 30,000 died in 2 DAYS during the first Manassas, also known as Bull Run. My citation is Ken Burns Book/Movie The Civil War, and Shelby Foote's trilogy masterpiece on the Civil War. There were 32 million people in the country in those days...the casualties in several individual battles were measureable percentages of the total population. You cannot say that about the 500 brave souls lost in Iraq in 10 months.

As for the corporations with the off shore holdings and jobs, take a look sometime at the Heinz Corporation's web site. As you know, Kerry's second wife, and sugar mamma/benefactor is the Heinz heiress. Heinz has more factories and jobs overseas than they do here in the US. What do you make of that?

Or you can vote for a tort lawyer who routinely took 40% of his clients 'winnings' in lawsuits. Seems to me he had no problem taxing the poor to enhance his wealth. Your choice if you're not happy with our current President.

Mighty...in another life I'm a fan of vintage slot cars, raced 'em as a kid. A slot car board I frequent has a separate forum that used to be called the Back Alley, now the Paddock, which was reserved for just this type of conversation. Maybe that's what we need, maybe not. Perhaps Off Topic will suffice, 'cause I've certainly taken this off topic.

Other than that....got my replacement tire in TWO days from Tire Rack for the bubble in the front tire problem!!!! Will be back on the road by the weekend, calling for 60 degrees plus in Maryland by Sunday. Sweet!

Note to bonsterbum, Rwright, WMichaels, and any other folks in the Mid Atlantic area...Tire Rack has a distribution center in Delaware, and if it's in stock, you'll have your order in just a couple days!

ROAD TRIP!!! Gonna burn some fossil fuel, and love every minute of it.

My motto is "Pollute, consume, and erode."

Default End of story

As we speak there is pending legislation in DC to close the tax loophole that allows a $100K write off for hummers and their brethern. A small step for fairness in the marketplace.
