Default END OF DAYS

 That horrible cracking sound you hear is is the Universe imploding...it simply cannot stand the stress of Wes and I agreeing on something.

Seriously, we ARE agreed that the cars are great cars (but would be even better with rack and pinion  ), and indeed it would be great to cross paths if we can get some mid atlantic Xfire owners to do some road trips when good weather comes (and stays). There are things going on in OC, and no doubt Virginia Beach.

I'd love some to go to a Friday at the Track at Summit Point in West Virginia.

Jim, I understand your math and your general concept, but to be honest with my deductions...the main one of which is my mortgage, I pay in federal taxes on an income more than double your example not much more than your $50K earner would pay. It may be selfish, but with that model I would wind up paying more in taxes if my deductions were eliminated.

But even if I'm at the far end of the bell curve and your math holds for the majority, the main problem would be one of perception.

Tod:

You are right, it is time to get back to talking about cars.....

But:

I oulled the 2004 Circular E to calculate what the taxes are for this year. A single person making $50K per year will, pay $7,670, and married will pay $5,585. A single person making $100K will pay $22,115, and married will pay $16,610. If your interest deduction is knocking down your tax by $10K, then maybe my 20% rate is too high and could be lowered to 15% less.

As far as perception, I agree with you 100%. The feds would beat this to death in a flash. It doesn't matter if the numbers can be made to work. They would lose a major power over the special interests, and that will never happen......

But it really would be better that the mess we have to deal with now.

Now as to cars, I wish there were some owners in my area. I have yet to see another Corssfire on the road.

Jim

jsisabella -- you can have the Presidency. Too much pressure for me. As Calvin Cooledge about a second term -- "If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve."

You guys are thinking way too hard about that tax thing. Figure out a way to claim being a farmer.

And there was a post earlier where someone (I was too lazy to go back and see who) slammed the K car and the minivan. As for that, all I can say is that if we truly love our Crossfires, we'd better offer a moment of praise and thanks for both the K car and the minivan as without them, there would be no DC today and thus no Crossfire. Remember back in the '80s when Lee Iaccoca (sp?) and the K Car saved Chrisler's bacon? At DC headquarters, they'd better have a gold-plated K car in the atrium as a shrine. Crappy car by today's standards, but back then it was just the ticket to save a floundering car builder. And the minivan? Yikes, I'd say Chrysler pretty much invented the paradigm on that.

So here's to K cars. I wouldn't have been caught dead in one at the time, but I'm glad they sold well.

Hope y'all have a good week.

LOL not to stir the pot, but I love my 03 Z71 Avalanche, 04 Jeep Wrangler X and 500 HP Z06 (soon to be replaced with a Crossfire).

Single handedly I can use more petroleum resources than many entire families, tear up the earth when I go 4 wheeling and have a totally impractical 2 seat sports car to dodge in an out of traffic with at a high rate of speed.

You know what, I worked hard my almost 36 years on this planet and I am enjoying the fruits of my labor. I also own several handguns and would love to see someone try to take what I have worked so hard for my entire life away.

BTW I also vote.... how many of you that are complaining about the current state of things can say the same?

There are plenty of other countries around that support some of the socialistic views posted on this board. Donft like it here.... MOVE.

As for me, yeah I might be out of a job right now, but the IT/Telecom industry is tough and it was by choice. I left the east coast and followed a great job in L.A. that I took late last year. Well my wife didnft want to move that far way from family and I gave up everything out there to come back here knowing that I didnft have a job lined up. But I will be working again soon and refuse to rely on the government for help since it was my decision. I take responsibility for my own actions. Which is more than I can say for the left wingers. Of course by now you can all see what side of the fence I am on.

It was explained to me in very simple terms a long time ago what the real core differences between the parties actually is.... "Democrats want equal outcome for everyone, while Republicans want equal opportunity" and that is something I entirely believe in. I have no problem with someone from the ghetto succeeding in life if he works for it. I also donft think that someone from Beverly Hills should get life handed to him on a platter either. Let everyone have the same chance in life to make something of themselves. If they decide to be lazy and shiftless then that is on them and I will just pass them by in my gas guzzling trucks and hot rods.

Here is a quote from another forum that I am on that actually came from a democrat friend, yes I do have them, his views might be a bit twisted but he is actually a good person. I also respect his right to choose that affiliation. That is what makes this country great. My dad also used to say, if you donft stand for anything, you will fall for everything.

Anyway on to the quote....

WOULD IT NOT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV TONIGHT AND SEE G. W. BUSH GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH.....

My fellow Americans:

As you all know, the defeat of Iraq's regime has been completed. Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete. This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries, which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there. The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption. Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France. In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.

On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China.

To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal now. Just note that Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to Russia for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables, too

I'm ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. Pay your tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are going to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I'm gonna put 'em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil. Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty--- starting now.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them be saying darn tootin'. Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet.

It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup soccer from America.

To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you. To the nations on List 2, a final thought. Drop dead.

God bless America.

Thank you and good night.
