You are right, it is time to get back to talking about cars.....
But:
I oulled the 2004 Circular E to calculate what the taxes are for this year. A single person making $50K per year will, pay $7,670, and married will pay $5,585. A single person making $100K will pay $22,115, and married will pay $16,610. If your interest deduction is knocking down your tax by $10K, then maybe my 20% rate is too high and could be lowered to 15% less.
As far as perception, I agree with you 100%. The feds would beat this to death in a flash. It doesn't matter if the numbers can be made to work. They would lose a major power over the special interests, and that will never happen......
But it really would be better that the mess we have to deal with now.
Now as to cars, I wish there were some owners in my area. I have yet to see another Corssfire on the road.
