Default Glock 23 shooting range results

Well, first time shooting a gun (other than a few rounds from my dad's gun when I was a kid). It appears, I have a lot to learn. I need to learn how to control my breathing.

Gun: Glock 23
Ammo: Winchester FMJ 165gr .40 cal target ammo.

I tried 25ft and 50ft distances. My magazines varied from 12 to 13 rounds.

Here is a 25ft slow fire, took my time for accuracy 2 magazines:

Here is a 25ft rapid fire, pulled the trigger as fast as i could, 2 magazines:

Here is a 50ft slow fire, took my time for accuracy, 2 magazines:

I think I am holding the gun a bit tight, because it appears my rounds are going more toward the left.

Are you a lefty? I am a lefty, but I actually shoot righty...it's weird. I will still pull to the left every once in a while when my arms get tired and my left one doesn't provide as much support to my right arm.

Nice groups, Musclefan.

Maybe your aim and trigger control is just fine and you simply need to adjust your iron sights. Study up on how to do it, and depending upon which brand of sight you have, looks like you just need to give the rear sight a couple light taps to the right.

Good luck. Glad to see that you are taking advantage of your 2A rights.

look as long as you hit center mass thats all that matters..

i say that because if u ever have to use a weapon thats all that will matter.. people get caught up on grouping.. hey all that matters is that the bad guy is down for the count..

Grouping is everything when you shoot at targets.
When it comes to shooting people many people freeze and forget they have a gun, sometimes fortunately. Or they get buck fever and forget to take of the safety or some such thing.
Not many people like Dirty Harry.

I hate to even bring this up:

A "gun" is an old piece of Naval ordinance. Generally unrifled (smoothbore). Not to be confused with a tank cannon, such as that found on the M1A2 Abrams. That is a "Tube".

it is referred to as a "PISTOL".

One keeps a gun behind ones zipper.

Nice shootin' Tex. Keep practicing.

we don't just practice center mass anymore...too many bad guys can afford "vests". We shoot 2 to the body, 1 to the head....we also practice loading and re-loading one handed, and off hand loading one handed...never quit...practice these things enough, and they become second nature...you don't even think about it...and one other drill you should practice, with a dummy round, is clearing a jammed weapon. Tap, roll, rack....Tap to make sure your magazine is all the way in, roll to the side to allow jammed shell, to fall out as you rack the slide...you "wheel" gunners don't have to worry about this..lol..

Too much trigger finger and anticipating the recoil is putting your shots low and left. It is very common. Everyone has a sweet spot on their trigger finger. You have to find your own. Otherwise, still good enough to protect yourself (unless you cannot handle a serious adrnaline dump under severe stress).

One drill I used to put my students through was to have them run 25 yards to the target and back carrying a bag of bricks (about 50 lbs) as fast as they can, then unholster, load, and fire. Usually, most of them would be very "winded" and it would really shake up their stability and they could not even hit the paper. After time, they would learn to control themselves enough to make good shots. it's a good drill for an outdoor range. where allowed of course.
