My family is safer inside my house then anywhere else on this planet. That is where I would ride a storm out.

This cat one storm will go down as the 5th most damaging in US history.
Fortunately the authorities were on the ball.
Looting was almost non existant.
The lessons of Katrina, New Orleans, were taken well and learned.
Chances are this year will see more Eastern Seaboard Huriicanes. Let us hope this as the worst. But it would appear the states involved had their act together.

Historic Hurricanes--Some Of The Most Powerful Storms On Record.
Yet somehow the over hype didn't really even help lower the death toll. I guess the over hype really did nothing to save lives

If you truly believe that logic then, you're an idiot.

Just making a statement based on my observation of facts. Was my conclusion not correct?

Your observations are incorrect. Get new glasses.

Don't worry guys, I'm fine...even with all the bickering. Aren't you guys missing the OP's initial message of concern...
...I haven't heard from Tony yet, but I know some areas around me (Northern NJ) still don't have power, and we are an hour plus inland. I stayed at home, venturing out a couple times in the 'cane to check on the SRT. My garage has a bad habit of flooding in heavy rain...just couldn't let it get to high...it didn't, so I didn't have to move.
I wasn't too concerned with the hurricane, I have been through worse and didn't even lose power. Was back at work Monday morning, unfortuantely.
Hoping everyone else in Irene's path is doing well...
...and like Tom said, and earthquake and a hurricane in the same week was enough for me. I took a nap on Sunday.

Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Cat 3 with winds of 125 mph. Even reached cat 4 at 140MPH when hitting Cozumel. Waves as high as 45 feet. killed 48 people in Florida and Mexico.
Hurricane Dennis in 2005 hit Cuba with 150 MPH winds. I believe that is a cat 4. Only 32 died.
So far Irene is reporting 40 killed and it was nowhere near as strong. That is with all the hype and warning. Still killed more than Wilma.
Well here in Richmond, VA we got hit hard, during the storm sustained winds of 76mph and gusts of 81mph. No power, phone, spotty cell service...we will not have power until this Saturday, hopefully sooner. My house sustained no damage, but one block down....every other house has a tree in it.

MurderedXF has been on today. He hasn't checked in here or the other Hurrican thread, today. But he was on earlier.
Glad you are well sir.
Sorry if I offended. But many of my posts were directly to him or about the seriousness of his situation. I hope no one took lightly the potential of this or any major storm.
Like passing blind on a hill, just because you got away with it once doesn't me you are safe to do it again.
Weather Service says the Eastern seaboard will get most of the tropicals this fall. Keep smart and keep your heads down.
Be safe and be well guys.

My guess is you just said that I don't know what I am saying... that I am talking out my ****. All I am doing is comparing this storm to storms of the past. I am sorry if I **** off Anthony... but I have lived through the same storms as he did.... except I was on the south shore.

I do not think Blackcrossfire07 knows what he's saying.
It really sounds like he speaks from his ***

You posted a few weeks ago that you were gonna tone it down a little.

I say that next hurricane that hits the US, we test out his theory. I will park my XF in a nice safe garage & leave his outside under my giant 250 year old oak tree. If he is 100% sure that it won't be a problem, then we can take on that little experiment. However I think his mouth might be a little bigger than his cajones when it comes to his OWN property. Its real easy to run your mouth when you are have a country away sitting in the safety of your own house. Just my $.02
So....without the BS, how did everyone fare through the storm....roll call from all that was in it's path....and Black...you did say you would try.....so try already....or the "button" pushing will continue...lol....especially on the political forum....just love the political forum....NOT!

I am done doc. No more posts for me on this subject. I was just trying to make a point about the media and I went off on a tangent. No more from me. By the way... I do know what thirteendog said in german. As valk says... I am back on my Medications
By the way... My family is ok. My parents never even lost power. No trees down. And they are on the south shore of long island. My cousin that lives directly on the water only had a little sea water in his yard and garage... But his car wasn't even in there.
