Is it just me or do alot of forum members on here like to start up trouble with what some people say? You give your opinion about someone cutting a headlight open instead of baking it and you get yelled at like a child. I think I saw a little tiff like this occur between Mr.Miata and Boiler about a month or so ago (correct me if I'm wrong, just trying to remember off the top of my head) and I see it every so often. I've never understood why guys want to start up drama, it's a forum to help people find the best way to do things on their cars, not a place to act like a child and say negative things. I never saw this on my last forum where the crowd was all young people, so I have been pretty shocked to see it in older guys, who society deems to be more mature and respectful. Just shocking

I think it's just a byproduct of "Reality TV".

In general, this forum is among the best. I've been known to ride someone's case, but only when complete stupidity/disrespect was shown by the OP. Thirteendog and I love to troll -- never take us seriously when we're taking jabs. If you show that you're butt-hurt, you're toast. And I mean TOAST.

Young punks know a lot, but have experienced relatively little. Old farts have experienced a lot and forgotten most of it, but still know enough to put you in your place as Dave often does.

Honestly I think it's a byproduct of "recycled" topics. We've politely answered the basics with softball after softball for years. After half a decade, we're less patient with someone that asks about an eBay tune without having the decency to search.

And, some people are just ******** and are only tolerable if both of you have a beer in hand. Facts of life.

Welcome to the forum, btw.

That's probably the truest thing you have said here.
I've got wrinkles that are older than you, so when you say that's the dumbest thing you have seen I had to jump in. Your statement that glossy is shinier than matte. Now that's dumb.

I'm sure you'll fit right in, we did. LOL

I think as JHM2K said, and 180 too, and you saw it from Max, is that the trouble starts pretty quick with differences in attitudes between the young guys and the older ones. The young know alot but without overall experience they get testy and the arrogance comes thru as a challenge very very quickly. the older guys have seen it, lived it and been it so many times before it's just plain tedious, and the old lion just snaps at the invasion of personal space.

The only, and I mean only time it got personal is when truly dumbass things are said, by any of us without seeing how it comes across in print and then the fur flies. The jabs are all in good overall fun, we're more like family than anything else, I have hardly ever seen it get personal though. I mean really personal, not just a perceived personal slight.

you're comment to max shows what I'm talking about. immediately jumping in to tell max right off the bat to show respect to someone he doesn't know in the first place. where did you get the idea he was dissin' you. But the young get all in a lather pretty quick about this dissin" stuff. It's no wonder the main cause of death in the young is gunshot wounds and car crashes. You dissin' my Pinto man????? BTW John, can you fix that 'you're' in the beginning of this paragraph for me?

This all started with Max from a post about fixing condensation inside the headlight where I said "sawing the headlight is the dumbest thing ever" and then I went on to discuss baking your headlights in detail. Well Max didnt like that to much. I wasn't being hostile to the person doing it, these headlights are expensive, so sawing it seems foolish. Max started this nonsense

Thanks for the warm welcome, I appreciate it! Not trying to be a disturbance on here, but I'm not letting people who don't know me try to "cyberbully" me. Very illegal in NJ btw lol

Wait until you give out good ideas and others act like they thought it all up on their own. That's a good one too.......

Well, I can't think of a single thing I left in Jersey.

The "nonsense" was not of my doing. The "nonsense" was started by someone giving poor advise without research. Emphasis on the "..search..." part.

Yep, Daniel is right-I'm sick and tired of newbies that walk into the forum and start spouting questions without searching first or advise with no prior knowledge of these cars.

I suppose I must apologize for bruising your tender sensitivity. But, a new thread about it? Christ, kid: grow a pair. Or exit the kitchen.

dang it John, and here I was all fixin' to get your help. LOL! Good one, and back to 21, you didn't respond to my point, I understand what you meant, but I repeat, we're like family and sawing the headlamps is dumb, when you can bake them and they fall apart,, because now you've got the width of the blade to deal with and heaven help you if the sawing isn't right on. But I digress. BTW, I've had my chops busted by my supposed friends on here many times, and really when you put it into context it's just about not having too thin of a skin wile you're learning.

it's not about who started it and then carring it forward, it's really better to consider the source in your own mind. The thing I was trying to get across is that the younger folks today are so quick to make sure they don't come across as a pushover. We all did that, it's part of finding your place. In reality, there is NO pecking order to deal with, we just think there is. And like John said, welcome to the forum.

BTW you cant open the headlights with heat, I melted one spare to destruction to prove the point. I had some stealthy plans that sawing just would not accomidate. Woody
