It's rubbish, but I can't drill my own oil so I'm stuck with the crap.

The EPA knows this will ruin motors over the long term. Think they give a damn? Nope. That's the end-game after all. Thin the petrol herd year after year, and offer ginormous rebates (using worthless USD) on electrical cars. One must only consider the success of E10 and the resulting global food shortages (and worsened fuel economy) to realize that further enriching our fuel with corn will surely compound those problems. Less food for the poor, and more $$$ per mile. It's exactly what this world needs.

Diesels look more tempting with each passing day.

 

Its like spitting corn cobbs out the perverbial asses (exhausts) of our cars... Sooner or later it'll plug it all up from the injectors to the tailpipes.....

 

Wouldn't 15% be e15? And IIRC my 3 cars are only approved for 10%.

What's happening to the old cars that are being forced to run on 10%?

 

John, read the article posted above, most of your questions are answered there... well about as well as you would expect the government to answer

Yea, right.
anybody buys that, I have some prime swampland for sale in Florida too .......

 

I don't care if the addition of 5% more ethanol reduces gas prices by $1 a gallon... I don't want that crap in my car. I filled up with 100% gasoline (0% ethanol) and instantly saw a 2mpg jump in fuel economy. Airing up my tires did not have that same effect, even though our fearless leader said it would.

Moral of the story? Rid the gas of our corn, and let our farmers get back into the food business, not the corn subsidy business.

 

I agree 100%, and just be glad you have access to the 100% genuine petrol, no where within 50 miles has it here, and I would go out of my way to get it...

 

Calm down gentlemen. Let me take you back to the alcohol fueled cars of my old race days. Tuned right, it is the best performance fuel for certain activities. You will not get the mileage though. The only drawback to E85. Many were converting to E85 for performance, but fuel economy will suffer 20-30%. Again, I heard this same complaining when leaded was taken away from my old muscle cars. But, somehow we managed to survive. As far as corn shortages, well, that isn't going to happen. Our US farmers are for the first time in decades making some money for their products. Ethenol being one of them. We genectical alter the corn just for selling to the fuel market. Just like we genetically alter corn for the food market. Soybeans are fueling the trucking industry as well. We heard complaining from them, but over time, engines makers have adapted, and so will the car engine builders... It, alcohol, burns hotter....and faster, and so, just like tuning, for certain racing, they will tune, and build injectors for whatever the blend will be. I'm not worried about it. Keep in mind, most engine come rated for what they should be burning...many think moving up to higher octane than what the engine is rated for, gives them better performance. But, sometimes, depending the motor, tuning, etc, that isn't always true....
I might add, the EPA scares me more, especially the new restrictions being put on engine builders. Catapillar has already pulled out of the trucking industry. They no longer will build engines for the big rigs. Cummins, is on the bubble as well...soon, there won't be a competive market for those engines...then look. Is the auto industry next? EPA needs to get a life. Global warming my ***, as Indiana broke record heat temperatures that were set back in 1898. I guess global warming was a problem then too....lol....

 

E-85 is only 15% gas, not many cars on the road today can run on that. Not up here in Canada anyway.
!0% Ethanol is standard here.

 

Those converting were drag racing, not for their everyday driver, although they are out there...
