Default R.I.P. Bruce (aka Nightrider)

Some sad news for those who knew former member Bruce Dora known as Nightrider. Originally Posted by Crossfire Trail

The reason for this writing is that I know some of you remember NIGHTRIDER who owned an 05 Inferno Red Roadster, he was a Part of New England Xfires, actually he was one of the founders along with Stan Grant and myself Rick Turgeon. Well, it pains me to tell you that Bruce Dora otherwise known as NIGHTRIDER has passed away. I recieved a call from his son who informed me of his passing 2 days ago. Bruce died at his home this past Friday, near as anyone can figure. His son went to his house looking for him as nobody had heard from him, he looked in the window and saw him on the floor and called the police. Bruce was a good friend to many on this forum depite being a bleeding heart liberal, he was a good guy. Thre is going to be a serive for him this Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mystic Funeral home on route 1 in Mystic. After which there will be a get together at a nearby eatery. Please come if you can to rember a good friend that will be sorely missed.

We seldom agreed on anything politically, but we had a common love in the car and he was always a gentleman on the boards. As DJ said, very sad to lose a member that was here from very early-on.

RIP Bruce...

I found out this morning. Bruce and I had many huge political arguments on the forum, as many of you know, and sometime ago, carried those arguments over to personal emails. Out of that, we became very very good friends and communicated by phone, and emails regularly. Still arguing at times of course, but with a knowledge that he was one of the most kind hearted people I have ever met.

Thank God that the political forum was there at the time, otherwise I would have missed out on becoming friends with someone whom I came to have the deepest respect for.

I will miss him very much. His wit, his concern for the underdog and his distaste for the arrogance of the privileged were all part of who he was, an extremely honest and open man, and one who made a very positive impact on my life. Thank you, Bruce for your friendship, your sharing part of your life with me and with us. Godspeed on your new ride, amigo. Godspeed.

A man with great taste in cars, but misguided politics, has passed. Had a ton of fun arguing with him. I miss it.

R.I.P.

Bruce and I went around and around on the political forum, we'd follow one another from thread to thread ... everyone here PROBABLY thought we hated one another, but they are very wrong.

One day, I posted in the General forum about a crisis in my life, can't remember if it was the divorce or my sister's condition - and I said that my faith was being tried. I will never forget the PM this guy sent me, and we carried on back and forth for probably three weeks - and he addressed me as "friend" and "Brother" - I can't remember what it was, and the pm's are gone now, but there was SOMETHING I said in the thread that made him realize we had some heartache in common, of some sorts.

Since the political forum is now gone, (as well as I have changed jobs and re-located), we simply drifted apart.

He was one of those "lefties" that, at least, DID get me to see his viewpoint, I still disagreed - but I respected him and understood his view.

I call him a friend, and now I know that my friend is gone.

Terrible news to hear. R.I.P. Bruce.

We traded some jabs in the Political section. I always admired the fact that he didn't just regurgitate what he watched on tv, he actually took the time to dig further and verify facts.
