Does anyone drive their XFire in the snow? And if so, how does it handle?

I got caught on sleet once in a gas station and couldn't get free.. had to get pushed out.. a little embarrassing... that being said, I didn't have snow tires on which I would say is a must if you're going to attempt any actual winter driving

I just moved up here from Florida about 2 years ago, and bought this car about 8 months ago. This past winter here in Ohio wasn't bad so I got by. I'm just nervous for a bad winter as this is my only car.

I have no "actual" winter Crossfire driving experience (since my XF is stored during those months). But I have owned a few other cars in the past that had nearly identical demensions, weight, and weight distribution as the Crossfire, that I did drive thru a couple Ohio winters.
If you use taller, more narrow tires, with an aggressive tread on the front and back, and add an extra 100lbs of ballast in the trunk, it should help out a lot in deeper snow situations. On ice, it should react about the same as any other car. Terrible.
If I had to drive mine in the winter, I would pick up a set of 17" Mercedes wheels from a salvage yard like LKQ, and probably go with 55 or 60 series Blizzacks.
I've read where people have said that the traction control is useless in some situations, where as others have had better results. Even when you turn the TC off, it's not completely off.
Good Luck

If you moved from Florida to Ohio then you do not get any sympathy from me, sorry. I just cannot see where this is a smart move.

You'll definately need snow "shoes" for the winter.

As a daily driver, I'd be worried about the salt on the road and rust forming.

My crossfire is a daily. I live in Maryland, im from Ohio, I grew up driving in snow and ice. its fine in the snow and ice. its about the same as any low to the ground RWD car. take your time and you will be ok.

I shall say it's drivable but not desirable in the winter, due to its low ground clearance. When deep snow, you better just baby it. But light snow mixed with ice, you can do it, but you have to know what you're doing, and know how the car behaves on snow and ice.

I had my Crossfire during last winter, and it was enjoyed and greeted with the snowy winter of Cleveland. Cleveland does do a good job keeping the snow plowed, I can give them that, but I didn't take my time to drive "safely". The point is the car behaves very nicely, it can always put a smile on your face in those snowy and lonely nights.

Keep an eye on the tire tread, best to grab a set of winter tires and enjoy!

GASP!! Drive the crossfire in the winter time? Road salt, sand, water everywhere! Nope. Not gonna do it. I'm already choked about this teeny spot of rust on my rear quarter. The car barely sees rain

2004 SSB 6spd Coupe......Back in the garage, cuz ya...gonna rain today
