*****...........My wife and I did a trip to Orlando after we were married in 1981 in a Corolla. I drove home from Orlando to my house in 14 hrs. A few yrs ago, my wife and I went to Orlando on vacation. I was in a retired police Chevy Blazer I had bought from my old police dept. I looked over at her, and said, think I can break our record for getting home? She wasn't pleased as she knew pit stops would be limited to how long it took to fill up. As I pulled into my hometown at 4 am, I was pulled over by a Sheriff's Deputy for a head light out. Known Deputy was a drunk hunter...head light out is a good excuse...lol. We still crossed the finish line in just under 14 hrs 30 yrs later.......1100 miles. So when you look at this guys record, I would have to believe it. We didn't do anything above triple figures in 1981 or 2009 in cars that weren't fast.... The key, like truck driving is motion. Smooth constant motion...and most of our driving was through the night... great article..
