Default We got through hurricane Irma in tact . . . WHEW

We evacuated to Davenport FL (near Orlando) and towed out the Viper with our Excursion and the SSB Crossfire roadster with our Suburban. We had to leave 8 other vehicles sheltered / parked under the house. We were truly expecting to lose everything that we had to leave behind in Key Largo including the house and it's contents . . .

Information from Sunday 09/10 . . .
My son and his wife were just now able to go to our home. Everything is good. No flooding and no damage. We did lose one big palm tree but the report is SO much better than we had expected. Our prayers worked! THANK YOU LORD!
1st photo taken as we were leaving / evacuating . . .
2nd photo of large palm tree down taken by my grandson on 09/10.
We were SO VERY LUCKY as there was significant flooding and damage very near us . . .

I'm glad to hear, you don't have to call the insurance co.

Our plan was to head back toward home tomorrow morning (Tuesday) but: We just got a call from one of our deputy friends with the Monroe County Sheriff's office. We asked him if we could get back to our home in Key Largo tomorrow afternoon. He told us that the national guard is posted at the 18 mile stretch and at Card Sound Road (the two roads that enter & exit the Keys) under strict orders that NO ONE is to be allowed back into the Keys. That may change in the coming days but he thought it would be at least a couple more days before the roads could be cleared to allow for any re-entry.

I have been thinking about you and Cindy and all the property you own including the business.

Are all your employees as fortunate as you are ?

The news here in Chicago made me feel as if the Florida Keys were going to be eliminated from the planet and I've been down there many times and it's such a beautiful place.

Although I've heard much damage has occurred in the keys I'm happy that you were spared and I'm glad that you posted that here for the rest of us to know

Gary

Glad to hear that your losses from IRMA are minimal; mainly landscape cosmetics. Hopefully you'll be able to return to the home front later this week once roadways are cleared & power is restored in the area.

Hi Gary, Thanks for your concern and for posting your caring thoughts. Our employees evacuated too so I know they are personally safe. Don't know about their homes, etc. The photo below is from Key Largo about 20 miles from our home. The farther down the keys, the worse the damage . . .

On Grouper Lane in Key Largo, mud and storm surge fill the street as Category 4 Irma raked across the Florida Keys. Monroe County emergency managers fear the damage from Hurricane Irma in the Middle and Upper Keys could be severe.

Just like to say good luck to any of you guys anywhere near this.
Two good mates of mine were on holiday in Antigua when it went past, but the Island went largely unscathed I believe...

Hey Bob, Glad to know that you both are as good as can be expected. Prayers answered! Good luck in the upcoming days returning, and getting back to near normal.

We got 30-40 mph wind gusts in Upstate SC as IRMA passed through Georgia. Last night was a little scary once darkness came because you hear all sorts of things when you can't see out clearly. And we live on a lot that is heavily wooded, which makes matters even worse. Had a few large branches come down; none near the house, thank goodness! But the yard looks a mess with all the leaves & small limbs that fell in the wind. The cars left outside came thru unscathed; again thank goodness! Now to clean up the yard.

Power was out for about 75-90 minutes. Spectrum cable is still off as repair crews waited until IRMA passed before starting service restoration in the area today. Using Sprint Hotspot modem since cable internet is unavailable.
