Default Tree ALMOST destroying my stepdads crossfire

I had mentioned this in my double din radio install thread and got to thinking everyone might like to see this.
The crossfire is in the garage mere feet from where the tree hit. Minor dings resulted but it escaped being flattened luckily. My corvette is the black car under the carport. Its a miracle it didnt get it but it was unscathed.

This ones from my carport cam.

This one is from my front door cam.

I just noticed there are 2 black cars under the carport the tree fell beside. The one farthest from the garage is my parents chrysler concord. The one closest to the garage and the tree falling is my corvette.

I have had pretty big tree limbs come down on my coupe. Happened twice same tree about one year apart. The car had two covers on it, damage was pretty minor and insurance paid to repaint the front half of the car so it wasn’t all bad.

It had just come a big storm with high winds which is why one of the garbage cans had blown over. But at the moment the tree fell the storm had just passed. I guess the winds had blown it over some and the ground gave way. The roots ripped up out of the ground at the base.

The tree was healthy up till it tipping over

Wow. Amazing how your cars escaped the tree falling down. It's crazy to think that the roots gave away after the storm had passed, appearances can be tricky! Glad to hear you and your cars are fine!

It takes time for the soil to absorb water and become completely saturated. That loosens the soil and it's then when you see a significant amount of the root-system come out of the ground when a tree topples over.

It once rained non-stop for two weeks when I lived in Florida. I'm not saying it rained every day for 14 days; I'm actually saying it rained non-stop, and heavily, for 14 days! Such are the joys of living on a peninsula!
