painted console
been here a couple of years now, and in that time i have'nt seen anything other than factory silver consoles. call me crazy but i thought it was too much silver, and were just screamin at me to paint body color. aero blue. thought it would also look good in a darker silver too.
Very nice; its a unique look and a definite improvement over OEM. What kind of paint did you use? Did you remove the sections before painting? Larger pictures might show the work better, too. You may have started something here....

Please answer the questions!
And post more/better pics?
disassembled the center console and painted the parts at the same time as the windsheild trim and door handles. was painted with PPG aeroblu base coat and a few coats of clear. will take more pics next week. the car is in winter storage right now but will be taking it on a short trip next week. will snap some then.
OK, I like the "idea" of this, since I agree that the big swath of silver down the middle of the interior just seems to be overkill.
Does anyone have parts of a console or the whole thing they want to donate? I bought the Blaze Red paint to do my engine cover and have some left over. I'll do a piece or the whole thing and install it for pictures.

Looks like this died a while ago but I really want to do mine in black so I can replace the cd player with something that I can hook my iphone up to. Any advice on tools/paint to buy? Also I want to do the buttons/dials, I couldn't stand having em silver with the rest black. Should I just mask off the illumination part with a circle, or are they inserts that I could just pop out/paint and pop back in?? Any info/help would be great. Also color doesn't have to match exterior exactly, I wont be holding them up side by side
I really want to do this in alabaster(white) where did you get the paint? Dont know anything about body work or painting. Did you spray it on? Im thinking the white with chrome accents would look nice. Any thoughts on this?
It looks awesome.... but you should've removed the A/C control trim, and possibly the trim around the switches and painted those as well... then you're left with a silver HU but at least it's different!
it took a day to disassemble , scuff, tape, prep and paint . take your time and don,t rush. the radio is the key to dis assembly. once the radio is out the rest of the dash is pretty straight forward. then i ordered up the factory color from my automotive paint store. painted and clear coated. the next day reassembled which of course took longer than disassembly. again take your time. do'nt rush. if something fights to hard, you're not doing it right.then take a step back and think and look at the parts closely. things are designed to be easy, not hard...
good luck to all
ps supplies cost about $50 give or take.

I do not like it and the paint scratches so easily even with multiple clear coats. It would look terrible after a while. I know a lot of kids like to paint their interiors but I feel it is out of place to do it in nicer cars like the crossfire.

everyone has there own way of personalizing their car. i take no offense at others opinion. ithink that is what a "FORUM" is about. that being said, if i had a black radio, i would have painted the insets black. the reason i painted to begin with is i felt like it was too much silver and was distracking my eyes. my opinion. and why would a proper automovtive paint and clear, chip scratch or peal? what are you doing in your car?
Nice distinctive mod. Having a black SRT6 I did a black synthetic CF overlay on mine well over a year ago for the same reason as you plus the leading edge of the door pull and the speaker/door handle surround.... It also has two clear coats and no noticeable scratches (wouldn't the standard painted silver finish be at least just as prone to scratch?)
