Hi All Not sure where to post this question, But is there a font i can download to produce the Crossfire lettering, so i can get that line each side of the letter correct with out drawing them in.

Cheers,

Andy

Anyone have it?
I'd appreciate it as I've resorted to making my own garage posters using my own pics and some from the Tail of the Dragon... and if anyone knows/has a large Chrysler logo that’d be great too!

Re: Crossfire fonts

In order to make the letters for the sun visors on the bears I used an alphabet template that had the squat fat letter style then drew in the lines. Another suggestion is to take paper/pencil and make a rubbing of the letters on the kick/foot plate at the door sill. You can then modify them to creat the letters you need. I think there is a font that is in general a good match, can't remember the name, but you'd still have to put the lines in by hand.

Re: Crossfire fonts

I've got a bookmark on my computer at home to a website with free hi res .eps images of various logos, including the Crossfire lettering. It isn't a font per se, but rather a vector graphic of the lettering found on the back of the car. This should suit your purpose for sign or banner making as vector graphics can be scaled infinitely without becoming pixelated.

I'll post a link later tonight when I get home. After I walk the dog. And have dinner.

Hey, I've got priorities ya know!!!!

This one is close to it. Look for the one named KINEX. http://cooltext.com/Fonts-Iconian+Fonts

OK, out of the goodness of my heart I'm posting this before walking the dog and eating dinner. :D

Go to http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/ and just type in crossfire. It's a stupid multi step process but you end up with a nice, clean .eps vector graphic of the CROSSFIRE logo and if you have Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop you can resize at will with no loss of quality, alter color, etc.

Anyone know somebody that works in Chrysler's marketing department?? That's probably the only way you're going to get the actual fonts.

But the downloaded graphic sure helps! Thanks! :)

I'm going to work on an actual font package in the crossfire font. It sucks that it is so tedious to make them though. Hope to have them done tonight or tomorrow.

It's quite possible that there is no actual font for this - just the graphic for the nameplate. You don't need a font to create something like that. Besides, has anyone seen any other copy from Chrysler, or anyone else for that matter, that made use of this character set? All I've ever seen is the Crossfire logo.

Re: Crossfire fonts

They're done! Well the uppercase alphabet at least. I'll work on the numbers tomorrow. I probably won't do lower case as I don't think they'd get used for one and I think they will look terrible if I did spend the time to make them.

Enjoy!

Hi All, now thats a result. Only one question how is the best way to use the fonts, I have saved as a picture, is there a program that we can use that uses these fonts ?? Great work Rcompart coming up with the letters/font.

I plan on importing them into a font building program but I first need to make sure I have all the characters done and I want to get numbers in there for sure. Are there any special characters you think we would need besides the "-" hyphen and the "|" bar?

Hi,
rcompart -may I suggest an alternative J? The font is fairly cursive, and the very angular J looks at odds with the other curved letters - G and U for example.

I've tweaked the J a bit, using the bottom of the G - which I think fits in better with the typeface.

Here's my effort for you to consider:
http://www.worldofpaul.com/xfireJ.jpg

You’ll find that some logotypes are done using either tweaked existing fonts (The FedEx logo for example is a tweaked Futura Bold so you get the arrow between the E and the x). It may have been designed purely for the name/product, so only the letters seen ever exist. I emailed the BBC for the name of the font used in some graphic work in Dr Who. I was told that it was created in house by one of their designers and so it not available.

Looks good. I had trouble with that letter too but went with the way I have it for a few reasons, the biggest being from a distance, the one you made like mine that was rounded(and by the way, I too tried using the G and U before I posted these) looks out of place and is hard to recognize.

As far as where it is now, that is where we are keeping it for all of our branding.

RCOMPART,

Did you ever finish making a real font out of this? Love the look of the letters you posted..

Thanks!

Re: Crossfire fonts

I have it somewhere but between 4 computers and not having it named something easily recognizable, which I might add that I'm a complete helmet for not naming it crossfire font or something similar to that, I haven't been able to find it. I'll take some time next week and track it down but I can't use the search function on my computer for it because I can't remember what I named it.

Ha! You sound as organized as I am...

Thanks in advance for tracking this down. I'm looking forward to a few home grown projects that I'll share with the group upon successful completion! :)

My life is an organized mess! I know where it is, just not "where it is" LOL

BTW, how are you liking the new ride?

Loving It! :D

I work from home so I'm looking for excuses to go out and drive. For instance I needed a few things at the store so I went the LONG WAY there! :-)

Have been an admirer since they came out but never imagined that they would be SO MUCH FUN!

I've been very busy and haven't had the time to really sit down and search hard for it. I promise I will find it but between the quick touch top controller and a lot of stuff at work, I'm swamped right now.

Re: Crossfire fonts

Click on the file name and a dialog box should open with options to OPEN or SAVE.
Click SAVE and when the next box opens the file name "crossfire.txt" will appear along with the location you will be saving it to.
Replace the "txt" with "zip". Click SAVE.
You may now be asked if you want to OPEN the file. Click YES.
If you have an un-zip program it will open the file and you will have the option to INSTALL the font.
Do it!
