My drivers side door panels are showing a lot of wear. Is there any product that will help or am I faced with replacing it?

 

same issue here....Ive posted similar threads. maybe this is rare..?. I have used black she polish sparingly and brushed it off with ok results, looks better than the 'bare' spots.

 

Thanks, I'll give it a try, but I think it'll add shine. Can't beleive how poor the coating is.

The door pads new are very expensive. Around $700 @. You might find a pair on Ebay.

Have either one of you looked into going to a trim shop ? and yes the door panels are a cheap product and can be damaged very easily, since it is only a coating over a hard plastic panel.

 

I've tried all of the top trim shops. All of them agree that there is nothing they can do to repair the wear.

On the drivers door along the top edge at the window. It's where you put your arm.

 

on mine, it is the top edge ofthe panel where my hand rests, and on the passenger side below the door handle

 

Sounds like all of us are screwed. I wonder if Chrysler has a product that would help?

 

I would think a quality trim shop could cover the door panels in leather or vinyl cheaper than you could buy new? Also there are some pretty good plastic paints you might try to blend to match?

 

The tezture is worn off, you're right I'm going to see if I can find someone that will give me a quote for leather.

Have you checked into going through a junk yard that has a totaled out x-fire, there should be a few, and a lot of junk yards have a look up program/system, that searches other yards for parts, nation wide, just a thought.

 

I find the hight of the door is simply too tall to comfortably rest my arm on the edge, so maybe that's why I don't have any unusual wear anywhere on my door panel. With the exception of a "slight" depression on the armrest from my elbow.
I've got the cedar/slate interior, and I'd hate to have to try to match it.
Does Chrysler sell an interior "touch-up" paint?

That crinkleeee plastic stuff sure has a lot to be desired. If we can put a man on the moon and rovers on Mars surely we can put leather on doors. Since mine is new I was wondering how that netting holds up over time. Looks like a future problem to me. I don't know why they just didn't paint the thing Zolotone and staple some garbage bags to the door. It wouldn't look much worse. I think I hear opportunity knocking.
