Cargo Net
So the way I drive a cargo net is not optional, it's required!!! I thought some others might be interested, so here goes:
Materials:
A. cargo net --Good old evilbay provided a great cargo net from the Audi A3 (actually scoped it out in my gf's A3, but if it suddenly went missing...you know the rest).
B. four bolts, nuts, and eight fender washers -- I use stainless steel so it doesn't rust, allen button head bolt so they look neat, and nylock nuts so they don't come loose.
C. six cable ties
D. lighter or super glue
E. Gorilla tape (duct tape on steroids!)
Procedure:
1. Remove the plastic hooks on the net by prying them apart, and pitch them.
2. Drill holes at the corners of the trunk mat, but in the "board" reinforcement area, just big enough for the bolts you intend to use.
3. Run the bolt thru a fender washer, then thru the trunk mat.
4. Place the cargo net on the top of the trunk mat, but run the four corners over the edge and secure on the bottom as in next step.
5. On the bottom side, loop the elastic cord from the cargo net around the bolt, and use a cable tie to make a loop. Then add another fender washer and nut, tighen down to hold it in place.
6. The net is probably a little big, so I pull the slack in the elastic cord all down to the middle of the bottom, cut it so it overlaps about an inch, and singe the ends with a lighter or glue with super glue so it doesn't unravel. Then overlap the two ends, and use two cable ties to secure.
7. I put a double layer of tape over the hardware on the bottom so it doesn't scratch the trunk floor or rattle & clank when you go over bumps.
Hopefull the pic's clear up what my poor instuctions don't !!!!
