Silver radio knobs?
I thought my radio ***** were getting dirty but turned out the silver is wearing off or turning color. Besides buying new ones, if available seperate, anyone have an easy fix to make them look new again? I figured silver paint would just wear or flake off.

***** from Becker are $23 and change a pair and the paint will wear off again no doubt. I've found a supplier of spray paint for rubber surfaces. They can custom match the colour however will be about the same price as new ***** from Becker. The up side is I'd have enough paint for 100's of *****. (OK, here it comes....................)

Tomorrow I will try the paint process.
Thanks for the help. James

LOOKING GREAT
EDIT: After drying I had some left over key fob decals from ANDREW, and stuck them on the *****. They say AMG and are black, and seem to blend well with the other black on the dash. I don't know how to post pics, but I'll try .... I like them

might consider: spraying the ***** with primer, then the color silver you wish, then spray them with a clear coat.
I've done several pieces of plastic using this process, some paints will really screw up plastic without the primer on it first.
I have noticed a bit of "yellowing" on my ***** also.

I actually replaced mine with a set that I bought off of someone on here, he was making them for a while I just can't remember who. When I get a chance I'll take some pics.
Took the ***** with me to work. I used two 1/4" bolts stuck through a piece of cardboard and loosely screwed the ***** on to them. Cleaned very well with adhesive cleaner. Two light coats of epoxy primer. Then two coats of silver. No rustoleum, couldn't find any. Throughout the course of the day, I probably put 5/6 coats of Duplicolor wheel clear on them about an hour apart. I already had the car in the garage before I thought about pics. The color matches nearly perfect although the pics don't show that. Once the shine wears down some, it should be a perfect match. Time will tell how they will hold up.

I guess satin clear might have matched the finish better. Oh, well...
Warning and Update:
Once you have your newly painted ***** pushed on, Do NOT try to remove them ever again! I took one off to show it, and the paint checked when I tried to squeeze and pull it off.
Removed all paint and did it over again.
