Default Base roadster interior light question

I notice that when I open the door to get in my roadster at night there are no interior lights. There is a light at the top of the windshield header and according to the manual if you slide it to the right it lights and it stays on, slide it to the left for auto. So mine is slide all the way left and the lights never come on. Also do these cars have any lights in the footwells because I can not find any?

If you leave the switch in the center it should be on auto and should fade out after about eight seconds. left is off and all the way to the right they should stay on. there are no footwell lights.

Does the trunk light work when the lid is opened ?
Does the remote lock and unlock the doors ?

If not, then check fuse #9 in the under hood fuse block.

I wonder how you thought of this as a possible reason?
Some times the simplest reasons for a problem are the last to be looked at.

I was frustrated from digging through the schematics and metering.
I walked out in the garage and opened the trunk for something and it hit me that the trunk light hadn't been working since the locking problem started.
I immediately checked the interior light, since I knew they were on a common circuit, and neither bulb ( LED ) worked there either.
I dug back into the schematics and saw that F9 not only fed the lights, but also provided B+ to the BCM. EUREKA !!!!

( I suspect that particular lead to the BCM is used to power the CAN bus to the locking pump module )

I replaced the fuse with same amperage, and it has not blown again, so I have no idea what took it out initially.

The switch on the windshield header has no middle option, all the way right turns it off and all the way left turns it on. As for the trunk area I do not see any light in there at all. I'm guessing that's just the way the base models came.

My bad, there is no middle position. I just went out and looked at mine and left is off and the right should be the auto mode.

These things can be wrong but the Base and LTD specs say there is the same interior lighting specs.
