You just need to give the collar some muscle to untwist it clockwise. It's actually plastic. Then it takes alot more muscle to pull the **** straight up. Replaced both of mine with universal type MOMO ***** that use different size rubber sleeves and a set screw type collar to tighen down on the stem.
