Default Cargo Cover DIY

Some time back I was in conversation with a member here who was making his own cargo cover using the one for the old Dodge Magnum. I have forgotten his name and lost all record of what was said.

Speak up if you read this please.

The covers for the Magnum are going cheaply, used and new, around $100 each. You would have to make your own attachment hardware as the Magnum had it built in mostly.
See here for eBay sales

I just measured my cargo cover (original Crossfire model), the bar ends have a width of 17 inches that are tapered from the roll up of 44 inches. The header does not mount into side slots like the Magnum model, my cover attaches to the bulkhead with 2 heavy duty attaching screws. The mounting hardware is two pieces, the mounting piece and the "blind" are snapped together.

Your best bet is obtaining the dimensions of the Magnum model, since trimming will be involved at the rear points.

The rear mounting hooks should be a simple machining and mounting task.

Just my 2 cents

There is a typo in your thread, 17" should read 27".
I have the OEM one, mounted it myself twice, once in my '04 NA and again in the SRT. The OEM cover actually has a square lug at each end, I assume the Magnum one may have longer lugs.
I only started this idea when it looked like I would not be able to buy one, then I managed to get one. Lots of people want one but no one wants to bother to figure it out.
I think the one that is imported from the UK uses a cover for some car or other. It certainly was not made for us especially as to make one from scratch would be too expensive. I think one using the Magnum cover could be done for less than $200 if the cover cost $100.
I have given up on this project.

180, I've been looking at these cargo covers as well trying to figure if another one would work in a Crossfire. How about this Dodge Nitro cover? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Nitro-Dark-Slate-Gray-Security-Cargo-Cover-OEM-MOPAR/151937455801?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D45d12349e4a74c4195956ebaca45749c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D351527528810

Here's my low budget cargo net solution for now. I ordered a piece of stretchable fabric to cover it instead of the black towel. I'll post some pics after it's sewn on.

Soon after I purchased my CF in April 2013, I found a source through the forum that makes a cargo cover out of vinyl specifically for the CF (and for other vehicles, too). The CF logo is embroidered into the cover. It looks great. It is attached with velco at the bulkhead (is that what the center is called) and velcro at the lip where the trunk lid engages to the left and right of the trunk latch. The cover is specifically designed to allow truck closing with the measurement of cover wide towards seat and narrow at back end. Its a perfect custom fit. I'd buy one of the new roller covers out of the UK but what I have works fine. I can't recall price of the cover. Has anyone else found this supplier through the forum??
