Default Possible purchase of 12 year old Crossfire

Hi Everyone,

Love this forum as I've been using it for research. I've come across a 2005 Crossfire with AT and in very clean shape. About 85,000 miles. Currently asking about $6900. I saw one before that was in very rough shape and passed. This one is more tempting.

Some of the issues for me: Having trouble finding someone to work on it when I need repair. Also, some reluctance on purchasing an older model car that has limited sources for parts. (Seems like both Chrysler and Mercedes ignore it where I live.) I'm the type of person that purchases are car, takes care of it & then drives it till the wheels fall off.

Curious to know any thoughts from long-term owners. Looks like a fun car & ready for something like this.

If you like working on your cars yourself, you can find the answer to almost any issue here on the forum.
Yes, parts can be hard to find and expensive, but overall they are pretty reliable cars.
Be aware that almost any insurance you buy will probably not fix any damage, they all tend to total the car on even minor fender benders.

If your semi-handy, with a wrench, you can find the answer and usually a how-to-articile. PLUS, we'll all chime in, like it or not....lol.

Lots of parts available on Amazon and eBay. Indy shop that knows the Mercedes R170 should be able to handle major work, it has some quirks but people here know most of them.

If you’re not a DIY type, try calling some indie German repair shops in Savannah to see if they work on Xfires. I’m sure the answer will be “yes”, and you may want to have one inspect your potential purchase.
Do not use a dealer for service unless absolutely necessary, although there used to be a superstar Chrysler dealer in Beaufort, SC that may still have a Xfire tech on staff.

All good advice! My .02: our (new) 2005 now has 87,000. Would not trade it for 3 to 4 times any so-called market value! (5 times...might think it over...naw!) (wheels are still on!!!)
Go For It!

(should be under "All Crossfires").
