Hello, and welcome to the forum. Exactly how did you determine the canister is at fault for the check engine light? It might save you some money if it isn't the cause. Many times ppl just throw money at a perceived part only to find it was something else. Fill out a post in the "Troubleshooting & Technical & Modifications" section of the forum giving all (or as much as you can) information you have tried already. Members there may drop in and help troubleshooting the check engine light given a more detailed set of testing/results. Again, welcome to the forum, the membership has saved buckets of monies for the membership over the lifetime of the forum. Good luck!

I too have questions about how it was determined the fuel canister is the culprit. In general, these things last forever. If you missed a cam or crank position sensor pulse during startup the check engine icon will activate. If you had a sparkplug or coil misfire during startup the same signal/code will be displayed and remain untill the code is deleted. I am not certain that the failure code will be that specific otherthan indicating "misfire". I had a similar occurence with my 3.5L Benz which resulted in replacing the coils and plugs. The code was cleared and engine performance was dramatically improved.
If you have many miles on your engine and no idea of when the coils and plugs were replaced, I recommend doing this. It is not difficult to do and not that expensive.
