Description:
The switch and arm the attaches to the safety release handle in the trunk. Not the locking mechanism that closes the trunk. This is the switch mounted center right in trunk lid
Don't understand the question. There is a switch inside the trunk lock assembly that frequently fails. The actuating arm is under constant pressure and eventually gets malformed to the point it won't operate the switch. a quick fix is to disconnect the switch at the connector. The switch confirms that the deck/trunk lid is closed and locked before the top will go down. When the trunk is locked, the switch is open, disconnecting the switch provides an open condition, therefore allowing the top to go down. I bypassed this switch with a mercury switch mounted in a way that it was open when the trunk was closed and closed when the trunk was open. Crazy reverse logic. I installed the switch just to prevent a potential problem, but it is not necessary if you are **** enough to make sure the trunk is closed and latched before attempting to lower the top. Hope this helps.
