Curious if the 2000-2004 M-B R170 SLK320 has this same brace. Might be another good source for the part.

WOW - That's a really clean undercarriage!

RC
Here's the underbody X support you're looking for, for your Crossfire. Originally a Mercedes Benz SLK part, click on the link below. You should also search junkyards in Texas for Crossfires or MB SLK models in their inventory, since the part below is located in the UK and would take about a week to ship to Texas..

Here are brand new crossbrace for front: Crossfire Crossbrace
I did not respond when I first saw this as it just isn't a part that is all that hard to find, but as this post persisted I now know I should have chimed in at the get go.

@zip439 I was going to take mine out and strip them and coat them with POR-15. They are rusted due to road salt damage over time. I didn't know they were still available.
I see the one you posted would be for the front right. There is a second part number, 170-524-01-47, do you know if that would that be for the rear, or are they left and right?
Thanks,
John

Hello John, @M60A3Driver

My two Crossfire are both coupes. I am not familiar with the roadster.
The part 170 542 00 47 is for the front of the car. Left and right are the same part. I have had both of them off and have re-installed them on my coupe. One problem which may come up is getting the screw backed out. It seems they attach with a nut inside the frame and that nut can start to spin making it difficult to get the screw disconnected as you can not get to the nut.

The number you listed in the above post is for the rear of the car, so it is only for the roadster. Part number 170 542 01 47 is the driver side rear and part number 170 542 02 47 is the passenger side rear.

Should you chose to buy new I certainly would keep the old parts, refurbish them and keep as spares because they are getting hard to find and may come in handy sometime in the future when new parts are no longer available.

I don't know how long the front or rear braces are. But was wondering if a piece of zinc-plated perforated steel flat bar stock could be cut to fit. Something like this item listed at Lowe's: CLICK.
Lowe's carries pieces longer than the 3 footers - I bought a 6-ft piece some time back for use around the house.
