August 5th or 6th Michigan Thumb Run
Any Mich, Canadian, Ohio X-Fire drivers up for a run along Michigan's eastern thumb the 1st week-end in August?
Tentative plan would be to meet somewhere in the tri-county area in the a.m. - drive up I-94 through Port Huron up to the tip of the thumb at Port Austin. On the way back we could stop at my family's lake cottage in Harbor Beach for a BBQ.
It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Oakland County to Port Austin, very scenic along Lake Huron, small towns, shopping antiquing etc...
Let me know if you're interested, and we can firm up the details.

Yes, I have been waiting for this!!! Count me in for this as well. I also got a new camera that I have been itching to use so of course this will be perfect.
Fuzz, Somewhere along the line I overlooked the move from 19 to 20 in your profile. So obviously I missed your birthday. In that case, Happy Belated Birthday.
Thanks Mark, yes I am no longer a teenager and other than that it didn't feel any different. I had a great time on my birthday, the best one yet so far!!! So you thinking about coming in August?
I would love to participate...but sadly I will be out of the country the next 2 weeks, only returning on the weekend. Ingrid and I already made plans to visit friends in Pittsburgh. I leave each Sunday as the flights are all nighters, and August 5-6 is the first full weekend free that I could commit to visit my buddy, whom I haven't seen in 5 years.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great time, and if our other plans fall through we'll be in touch. Either way, we're taking the Crossfire for a long drive.

Markr6754 - Let us know if your Pittsburgh plans fall through . If they do, you & the wifey can stay with us the day before or after the run, since you have such a long drive. Better yet, have your buddy from Pittsburgh join us in Mich.
Any luck on the Crossfire humidor yet? I've given up bidding.
Regards,
Harbor

Hi Harbor,
Thanks for the invite; that's a very nice offer. I'll let you know how things turn out. Ingrid is really interested in the Thumb cruise....we had a lot of fun last month, and all of the folks on the run were great.

If I did this right you have a link to my post about the Crossfire Humidor...which I did finally win. It's still in the box as I haven't decided what to do...keep it, give it to my son, and so on.
Since I leave for Buenos Aires tomorrow I'll be off the boards for a while. But I'll check out the postings on my return.
Be well, and keep the plan working.

Guys - Any preference on Sat Aug. 5th or Sun Aug 6th? I'm open both days, so let me know what works for you.
Lorne - I've got your vote.

I think saturday might be easier, just because no one has to worry about going to work the next day. My vote is for saturday but I can do either.
Harbor- let me know how I can help set things up again.
Also besides voting on a day, how about finding a meeting spot? Will we do the museum again or somewhere else?

To get things moving with this. I will once again get a list of people who are going. So if you could please post the following information.
car- if someone else is riding with you please let us know.
guests- what type of car and if they are brining people in their car.
This way we have an idea who is coming that way Harbor can know how many people will be showing up at his house for the BBQ.
Also if anyone has any idea's for a starting point please post them. I would like to just gather at the museum again, that seemed easy enough for everyone top find and get there.

About a week until the cruise and we still need to pick a meeting spot and a day. Also we need to get an idea about who is going. So if you could please post if you are planning on attending and if you are bringing anyone else.
OK Boys & Girls - Here's what I propose for the "8/5/06 X-Fire Thumb Run" :
1) Meet at the Chrysler Museum @ 10 on Sat 8/5 (That seems to be the date of preference).
Note: You Lake Orion guys may want to meet us somewhere "north" since you would be driving south to the museum only to go north again.
2) Drive up through Port Huron (making numerous stops for photos, rest stops, shopping, etc...)
3) Stop at my place in Harbor Beach (approx. 2 hrs from museum) and drop off the food, rest stop, etc...
4) Drive to the tip of the thumb to Port Austin (approx. 1/2 hour one-way) and then return to Harbor Beach for a BBQ, hanging out, photo opp, etc...) Important Note: Girls - You need to work the photo opps similar to the "european auto show model" effort you put forth at the June Orphan Car Show run.
5) My 1st wife (so far) & I plan on staying in HB Sat. evening and returning Sun a.m. (Anyone wishing to stay over is welcome - we've got a 4 bedroom, 3 bath place).
So, we need your input on this plan, # of people attending, who's bringing what, etc... We'll bring burgers, buns & misc.
Please respond to Fuzz40 or myself so we can firm up the details.
So far we've got Fuzz (and his new camera for road video), our Canadian comrades, Blue SRT6 (Christian & blackbelt wife), with possibles from MI Roadster, Lorne and others.
We're a week away, so respond as soon as you can. Also need someone to ensure a good weather day similar to June Orphan Car Show tour.
X-Fire-N - Are you in? Cut across the Blue Water Bridge & meet us in PH.
Summer 2006 is slipping away too quickly, so let's make this a memorable event.
p.s. - Mark - Got the last Crossfire Humidor on E-Bay, FINALLY. Very nice.

Guys - I've got to push this run back to Sept/Oct. My sister was just up at our place and the tornados from a couple of weeks ago knocked down trees, power, etc...
Looks like it's clean-up time for now. I'll keep you posted.
Sorry

Wow I hope everything is alright at your place. I am sure we all understand, things like this happen. Again I just hope everyone and everything is alright.
