Default Mackinac Island Crossfire Run - Sept.18, 19 & 20

Mackinack Island Crossfire Run

The starting point for this route is at the town of Harbor Springs, MI. From Harbor Springs simply follow Route 119 north
The tunnel of Trees all the way up to Cross Village.
The road is 22 miles of paved road all the way but it is very narrow and has a number of very tight twist-backs. The speed limit varies from 15-30 mph. With a number of sight seeing stops along the way. this road hugs the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan through a dense forest. On one side you get glimpses of old summer cabin homes tucked back in the forest and on the other side you get brief glimpses of the Lake Michigan shoreline. This is a very narrow and twisty road that runs through the dense forest of trees and is literally one of those roads that you always see photos in travel magazines that make you crave to drive down. Ending in Cross village Mi where we eat at the ***Legs Inn in Cross Village. This is an old rustic cabin-style restaurant made of field stone, drift wood and old large logs and lit with warm amber lighting inside that just makes you feel good the moment you walk through the front door. Legs Inn serves a variety of items but they specialize in Polish ethnic foods and I will tell you that they are absolutely fantastic. At about 7:00pm when your Finished you can take a walk through their garden backyard overlooking Lake Michigan and watched the beautiful sunset over the lake. Then we head to our logging about 30 min north, just outside of Mackinac City The Grand View resort after settling in we can stroll thru the city. The 19th we take the ferry to Mackinac Island Sorry no cars on the island. Where you can bike ,hike, letting the veranda of the Grand hotel take you back to the Victorian age. take a carriage ride and even get a round of golf in. Sunday we have breakfast head over the Mackinac bridge for some fantastic photo ops So if this sounds good.

Sept 18-19
friday, Saturday night Sunday breakfast
we can stay on the island 149.00 per night or in Mackinaw city there is still reservation available so let me know

Sounds awesome Lisa.
One week before Carlise though may be a bit to close for me.
We can talk more at the upcoming Dragon meet.

I would do this in an instant, but I'm having to limit my self imposed stress and activities until my boards are done on July 24th. Lisa, I hope this is a success as I just love Mackinaw Island. If you organize this again next year, I'm in.

All the best to a great and wonderfully planned weekend event.

I talked with Frank and we were thinking maybe Mid September.
With Carlisle in July 10-12 and then the Woodward Dream Cruise on August 15-16
and then another Tail of the Dragon around Oct/Nov (Halloween Weekend)
this would work well for us anyway.
It's your meet so whatever date you decide on I'm sure you will have a following.
I'd just like to be able to make this one to.
It sounds fantastic !!!

Sounds like a great plan and a beautiful way to spend the 4th of July. I mentioned it to Peggy and I think we will end up going whether there is a meet or not... sounds like a great weekend. Macinac is a wonderful place.

Lisa, I'd say the second week of September- Should still be warm and tourist gone. (students back in school)
If Bob and myself attend you'll have plenty of fireworks.
